Any news on a new GNU-Linux tablet? I have been here ( Indiegogo) before and no luck

We’re cooking something.
We will have to sort out the issues we’ve experienced with the BraX3 launch first, before we make an announcement on a launch date.

LOVE THIS. I’ll be first in line. I’m in the market for a pad that has a pen/pencil & detachable keyboard that’s NOT google or Apple. I need to edit and write on PDF’s & pics for my work-side hustle. rehab houses. sign docs, ext. I was looking at lenix solutions, but now I’m holding off to see what Brax puts out.

Yes me too - I have an iPad Air (so about 11") and previously had a couple of different iPad Mini models after my original iPad 2. (The iPad will go with my iPhone once I have migrated from iPhone to BraX3).

I’d be looking for something not too big or heavy, somewhere around iPad Mini but not as big as full iPad - so equivalent to 7"-9" range tablets, possibly more 9:16 ratio screen (like some of the old smaller Samsung tablets) than the more 3:4 approx. ratio of iPads (so might be closer to 10" screen depending on the ratio).

Something with screen type and device functions suitable for use mainly for:

  • eBook reader
  • some basic simple office use (notes, documents)
  • email/web browsing/viewing photos
  • and some apps (like home music server/hi-fi system controller)
  • Possibly some basic graphics/drawing/photo editing use if it supported things like a pencil/stylus.

About 9 years ago Indiegogo had an unsuccessful campaign by MJ Technology LLC called the Warrior series tablets with pre installed GNU Linux based Gnome Open SUSE leap. Four tablets named the Katana, Tanto, Kodachi and Wakizashi were proposed. The hardware included an Intel Atom CPU with LPDDR3 memory and EMMC internal storage. I searched “all” campaigns on Indiegogo and found nothing. Here is an old link to details on the MJ Technology FB page. These tablets included 10 point multi touch and 1080x1200 resolution screens. Here is a side view of a prototype Warrior tablet with open SUSE https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=932908220143993&set=a.906084206159728

I searched the Internet Archive for the original MJ technology website for more technical details on their Linux based Tablets and found this one dated November 27, 2016.

It looks like the internet archive prevents some links. I found this still active URL on the CNX website history. MJ Technology Ubuntu Tablets Powered by Intel Atom Cherry Trail Processors Launched on Indiegogo - CNX Software

I use Mobian (basically “mobile Debian”) on a MS Surface Go 2 regularly. Works great with keyboard attached or detached, etc. For me, “phosh” (the interface) is best for adapting between touch only and keyboard attached with a simple tap of a button to toggle the modes (of whether to pop up the on-screen keyboard on a text entry field, etc).

Thanks. How does that compare to a similar device running Iode’?

First in line? I have been in line on Indiegogo for several years searching for a Non Spy Non Google N0on Alphabet, Non Meta, Non Facebook GNU Linux or DeGoogled OS for several years. Look at my posts on the Bushido series Tablets which include the Katana and Wakizashi models. They never launched successfully.

May we have the latest on this product? I saw a link on one of braxman’s YouTube vids. But was taken off shortly after.

Think this will work for the Microsoft Surface Go 1 or first gen variant?
