BraX3 Telco Compatibility – United States

Correct. Although, currently the BraX3 works on AT&T network even without the official approval. So it will work with PureTalk.

I am new to all this technical stuff, but I really want one of these brack’s phones. I currently have T-Mobile. Where do I go to find instructions or information on how to get the T-Mobile service on the Brack‘s phone and start using it as I’m learning more and more in other words how to just get started. Also, just learning how to use this platform not sure if this is even the right place to post a question.:pleading_face:

I am a T-Mobile user and a Brax3 beta tester. If you have a sim in your existing phone from T-Mobile, all you need to do is remove it from the old phone and insert it in the Brax3. Nothing else needed

As noted, T-Mobile and their MVNOs will be available “out of the box”, so all should “just work”. Possibly, and only as a “worst case”, for an MVNO an APN change may be needed in the cellular carrier settings if it isn’t detected correctly (but this is an easy change in the GUI settings).

AT&T and their MVNOs are reported as “just working” as well, but the device is not officially approved by AT&T so it may be a bit more of a possible risk if they later choose to enforce device approval.

Verizon, we think, will NOT work “OOTB” as they already enforce device approval (and it would take loads of money and regulation to get the brax3 approved). But there are reports of Verizon MVNOs working with the brax3. In addition, it is possible the cellular bands in some parts of the US may not be covered by the brax3. I’m still gathering a bit of detail in this regard.

Thank you so much for your response. That is awesome news.

@plamen please add:

US Mobile - Verizon (“Warp”), AT&T (“Dark Star”), and T-Mobile (“Light Speed”) networks: confirmed with stock IMEI that will only work on their T-Mobile (“Light Speed”) network.

Support confirmed that it is “up to the partner carrier” to get a device approved for the network. I was formerly under the impression they could override this, but unfortunately they can’t.

I may consider changing the IMEI to see if I can get it working on the network as a test. Pretty sure US Mobile would be good about not banning me if it goes awry, as I am a long term customer of theirs, they even worked a lot with me some years ago to get Pinephone with Mobian / Ubuntu Touch running on their network(s).
