I just cannot figure out the charging. sometimes it does an sometimes it does NOT charge. I have tried a multitude of charge blocks and cables. One day it will NOT charge with the same setup I used previously. Also, does NOT seem to charge ever when it is on, must be powered off. Coming from Apple world. What is the secret recipe?
Do you mean that you don’t get the lightning in the battery icon or that the charging level doesn’t increase?
In the latter case it’s probably the charger’s power lower than the 10 watts which is recommended as a minimum.
Also try the wireless charging and note down the differences.
it flashes the screen for hours that seems to indicate charging but battery level goes down. after unplugging the phone this morning i plugged in my macbook air and it charged just fine on the same cable/block/outlet config
The screen makes an upward glare once when you connect the charger.
It could be a problematic charging chip or battery.
Make sure that the charger can provide at least 2 Amperes.
Do you use a PD or QC charger?
Try a simple one if you have one.
In addition to George’s good advice check your battery settings on phone if you havent?
Have you got “charge by X time” enabled, or the only charge to X% option on, etc. They may be contributing to it apoearing not to charge at certain times…
If any of the suggestions wouldn’t help, I’d suggest to get a replacement. What you’re describing is quite unusual, as is most likely a hardware issue.
