deGoogled phone vs using a normal Android phone with fake Google account and info?

I am not the biggest techie and up on all this privacy type stuff, but was talking with a few people last night about things.

Seems some think that using a normal Android phone with a fake Google account and fake info not linked to you is better than using a deGoogled phone as it also lets you use RCS, Android Auto and do everything else normally.

Using either phone, no info should be linked “to you” as its all fake  on the normal Android phone. Even without the Iode Blocker stuff, if the normal Android does send everything to Google, Amazon and all that, its not linked to you so doesn’t really matter if blocked or not.

What are they missing and why is a deGoogled phone better than what they are saying to do?

Seems like their way might be better as the phone works 100% normally just on fake accounts. Plus you can choose from 1000 different Android phones and not limited to just what 5-8 privacy phones??? and most are mid range.

I am not a techie  so they might be feeding me a bunch of BS but seems to make some sense.

It’s been six years since I last setup a new plain Android phone, but back then if you weren’t already on gmail, you could use the phone for 'most anything without setting up a google acct. Just click “later” on any reminders.

But even with a false acct, any location services will track to your address, home and work. And if you use Android Auto, any modern car will tattle-tale on you.
