Factory reset and Micro SD card

I’ve read a lot of the posts but didn’t quite see answers that satisfied my curiosity. So here goes:

  1. Does a factory reset erase the micro sd as well?
  2. If it does not, is the data retrieveable when reset complete?
  3. is the Micro SD encrypted when formatted by OS?

A factory reset does not effect the micro SD card. U can set your seedvault backup to store there. I just did that and was able to restore a seedvault backup on my micro SD. It does want to use a cloud drive and says this micro SD drive is not a secure location.

I have never seen an option to encrypt the micro SD in Android. U may need an app to do that. I know it is possible in Linux but I’m not sure what Android would do with an encrypted external drive.

I’m pretty sure I saw something in iode’ a while ago saying our phone itself is encrypted upon a fresh boot. The first time u unlock your phone it de-crypts itself.

As far as I’m aware the only way to have the phone itself encrypt the SD card is to have it use it as internal storage, not external storage. Doing this makes the SD card only usable in that phone, and depending on the quality of the card can cause stuttering, lag or even data loss.
