Hmmm… Iode OS is a fork of Lineage OS. And apparently, Lineage does not have that option either. I was actually surprised. I understand that hiding the SSID does not make your phone any more secure, but why remove that feature? I have no idea.
It would be something I would use if it was available!

Correct. I used to be anal about doing this but then realised its completely pointless and serves no purpose except to inconvenience you, so I gave up doing it several years ago…
Anyone who wants to see your SSID can see it regardless, no matter what you do. The perceived benefits of hiding it are truly miniscule.
AND from a mapping & tracking perspective the difference between wifi network ABC on frequency Xhz at GPS location X, versus, hidden wifi network on frequency Xhz at GPS location X, don’t exist… AFAIK.
EDIT: I also seem to recall there is a situation where being hidden may be worse/weaker too, from security perspective, but can’t recall the specifics off hand…
I agree. It’s an illusion of Security.
Hiding a Wi-Fi network, or disabling its SSID broadcast, does not provide real security. The network name (SSID) can still be discovered by anyone using basic network scanning tools.
When devices connect to a hidden network, they send out probe requests that include the SSID. This behavior can be monitored by attackers, revealing the network name and making it a target for potential attacks.
