Just experienced something strange. The Brax3 came with 6.9 installed initially. I had installed a few apps including a banking app, everything worked with no issue. I have updated iode with all of the incremental updates as they were pushed out.
I recently had some password reset issues (not Brax related) with my bank and couldn’t get logged into my account. I was on iode 7.0 at the time. I uninstalled my banking app and tried to reinstall. I got an error message saying the app wasn’t compatible with the Brax 3 that I had just uninstalled it from. No matter what I did or who I tried to download the app from I got the error.
I just updated to 7.1 and thought, I’ll try and install the banking app again. The app loaded no problem and works fine.
Thanks for sharing that.
Do you mean that you couldn’t download the app from aurora app store?
Often Aurora will give an error message like that when trying to download an app. A workaround will be to use the Spoof manager feature on aurora app store and change the device model. That way, you will be able to download the app.
I could have explained that better. I couldn’t download from Aurora store, it said unavailable. I then tried from APKPure and got the message that the banking app wasn’t compatible. I gave up for a bit. After updating to iode 7.1 everything seems to be working now. Actually everything seems to be working much better on 7.1, phone has a lot more pep than it did on 7.0. I’m just not sure why a different version of the same OS would have a compatibility issue, makes no sense to me but a guru I’m not.
Compatibility can sometimes be a game of cat and mouse. Google introduces a new feature/flow for device verification, and microG or the device OS needs an update to pass those new verification flows.
I am not sure if that is exactly what happened in your case, but it is possible.
I found that downloading apps from Aurora is some time unpredictable. An app shows as not compatible on download, but when you restart the app you could download it. That’s why they have introduced the Spoof Manager feature on their app, to serve as a workaround to inconsistencies like that.
Strange for sure. I’ve been rooting phones and changing OS’s for maybe 15+ years, clear back to the HTC Thunderbolt. I have never seen that issue pop up. As I said, I’m no guru, I don’t know the inner workings of an app, it just seemed unusual. Aurora said unavailable and APKPure said incompatible. Two different sources. If I experience something like it again I’ll reach out.
Overall I’m pretty happy with the Brax 3. I get occasional random freeze ups but they don’t persist after restart. I’m not a power user so I may not experience some of the issues that others are. So far I’ve been able to get dual sim working with Mint Mobile. I haven’t noticed any wifi issues other than it’s a little slower up and down speeds compared to my other phone and laptop. Works pretty good for the price LOL.
