Iode browser (and other gecko) won't delete browsing data on quit

It seems that this setting doesn’t work well.

Or is swiping away an app not quitting. How then do you quit quickly? Do I have to go into settings/apps/ app/ and force quit? IMO this makes a joke out of “delete browsing data on quit”

Is there a global setting to make closing by swiping away an open app, to actually force quit?

I don’t think that’s the issue? I have gecko browser that I only use for an invasive ecomerce site. The browser is set to delete all browsing data when closed.

Shopping done, browser closed. Days later all that data is still there in the browser. I can manually delete it of course but that defeats the purpose of “delete data on close” function. It seems the same on all gecko browsers

The setting says that the data is deleted when quiting from the menu, not swiping, only Tor Browser offers a Quit option in the menu, how do you close the iodé browser?

That is the browser has to actively terminate itself in order to accomplish the task of cleaning the data.

Use the Tor Browser to be extra secure.

Close all tabs, swipe up from home to see all open apps then swipe off app.

To me this should close it. Pretty sure it never does

The long way works

settings > apps > browser app > force stop

@J1mB0b Searching on the internet says that Force stop clears the cache. So again you don’t use the feature.

As you can see here Firefox creates a Quit button when you select to delete data on quit, How do I quit Firefox for Android? | Firefox for Android Help

I tested it on iodé and it creates a Quit button at the bottom.
