A number of issues have been introduced in iodéOS 6.9. A hotfix build has just been released. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. In addition, an improvement has been made on Wi-Fi calling. Here is the changelog:
Fixed issues related to video capture: black thumbnails, applications malfunctioning (OpenCamera in particular).
Screen video recording has been fixed.
MP3 file playback in the Music application has been fixed.
Wi-Fi calls can now be made outside of cellular networks (airplane mode or no network), provided that there has been a brief connection to the cellular network since the device was last started.
That’s great, but it’s not showing up in the updater, so I am going to do a local update by downloading it to my computer and then sideloading it to my Brax 3.
Not knowing GitLab all that well, I have had to learn to hunt around to find the different releases, Betas and Hotfixes; it’s certainly not intuitive to a non-programmer.
If anyone wants to do likewise, here is the location to download:
EDIT: See link BELOW in Vincent’s post - I had WRONG LINK!
Taking the liberty of re-posting how to sideload instructions here. It would help if it was in a FAQ or something, maybe along with a short description of where to find a new release VS a hotfix VS a Beta, but maybe I am being presumptuous. Just trying to help.
You want to download the ZIP file (to your computer) from the location above with LFS next to it.
You do NOT have to unzip the file to install it!
Connect the Brax3 to the computer via USB
The Brax3 should appear connected to your computer in your file manager, HOWEVER, You might have to go into the Phone and look under settings search for “USB”. When the USB dialog comes up, select the File Transfer radio button and you will be prompted for the PIN number to unlock your phone and allow the files to be seen.
My computer pops up an error message about being unable to open a folder for Brax3, but you can dismiss this without a problem. (I am on Linux; your computer may not do this)
Copy the ZIP file to your Brax3 download folder.
Dismount/unconnect the phone from the computer.
On the Brax 3, go to the Installer app.
Click on the 3 dot menu in the upper right and choose “local update”
If needed, navigate to the download folder.
Click on the Zip file and the local update will start to import.
Once finished, it will ask you if you want to install it; click install.
The Installation process will start.
Be sure to plug in the phone to the charger to make sure you have enough power to do the install without draining the battery.
It will install the update and ask you to reboot; click on reboot.
The phone will reboot; it may take a bit, be patient.
When done, go ahead and enter your PIN # to enter the phone.
Go to Settings → System → Reset Options and click on “Reset Mobile Network Options”. Confirm you want to reset and do it.
Choose settings → About Phone and scroll down to confirm the idoeOS Version number has updated.
Note: the actual updater may NOT show the actual version you are running! Always check under the Settings to see what is actually running.
You should see the update in the beta updater now. You can go back to the release channel by uninstalling the update of the Updater (App infos, top right menu). But this hotfix version is the same in both channels.
Thank you for this! It seems the audio is being significantly over-driven in the prior 6.9 version. The audio comes across too loudly now and clips (displays audio distortion). I fear this will damage the speaker over time. Can this be dialed back just a bit?
Is it me or does everybody elses update take hours to download or is it just AT&T? I don’t know. Doesn’t matter if I use my AT&T router or use cellular, although sometimes the cellular is only half hour or so.
Slow download for me too.
Wifi calling in aeroplane mode still a no go.
Wifi calling wirh sim tirned off still ano go
Can make a call if sim data is toggled off, but that uses the cell network
Edit. My fault. Needed to deal with carrier to update apn
Very unlikely that it’s your AT&T. The update server for iode is in Europe so it takes longer to update if you’re in the states. We’re discussing improvement of the infra so that updates are delivered faster globally.
