I am gonna try flashing on my day off and see what I can help with.
In process of rebuild again. Bluetooth working fingerprint sensor SHOULD work but I have no interest in using or testing it. Iāll update with instructions to initialize the sensor but Iāll need someone who wants the functionality to test it.
Rebuilt and posted. Bluetooth working fingerprint sensor SHOULD work needs testing. Added instructions to test fingerprint for whoever wants to try it out.
My 2025 BraX3 is slightly different from your 2026 BraX3. Did u have to patch any of these files with something for the 2026 version or would your files work just as well on the 2025 version? I could test it on the 2025 BraX3 if u think it will work just as well on this phone.
Awesome work. Thanks for all the work put into this and even more for sharing your results on your website. Just terrific.
Well, Iām having trouble with the bootloader in Droidian. It didnāt kill my phone like I was concerned aboutā¦it got into a bootloop which has happened plenty of times before and is recoverable for the 2025 BraX3. I will flash it with Lunar OS so I can charge it tonight. Lunar OS is debloated Android but not as secure as iodeā OS so u can put Linux on top of it. I copied the Droidian image (a huge 5.6 GB file when uncompressed) to an ext4 formatted USB drive and will mess with it tomorrow!
Everything goes on the phone with no problem and I get at least 50 okays until I get to the following comand:
fastboot --set-active=a
Then it gives me an error and when rebooted goes into a loop for a good 10 minutes.
wrong hardware generation for this image, plus a possibly-failed slot switch. Worth running fastboot getvar current-slot for curiosity, but the port will not light your panel. If you want you could attempt a headless boot (does it enumerate as a USB network gadget? can you SSH?) tells whether everything except display/touch survives on gen-1 hardware ā which would scope a 2025 bring-up to mostly panel+touch work rather than a full re-port.
Iām going to add a .md file to the field doc and short instructional for someone with 2025 hardware and claude code to do the bring-up. I canāt do much without the hardware myself.
new link will drop right at the 2025 port .md for anyone with ai access and 2025 hardware willing to try. Added a new image with the hardware encode/decode for the camera for 2026 brax3 itās optional so I left the original image as well.
I think itās meā¦my phone wasnāt ready. I used that command before to get Ubuntu Touch on the phone and had no problems. I was flashing LunarOS twice I think before I put UT on it. I need to read through my posted notes and figure out what I did before.
Iām currently working on dual-boot, possibly have files out later today for iodeos and droidian on 2026 hw.
Hold up-Iām not comfortable with AI. I appreciate all the work u are doing but I donāt know that u want to put trust in AI. I suppose u are not the first and AI is probably being used now to develop the Linux kernel.
Fair concern, but ai contributions can be read and audited, thatās not where the real trust problem lives. The black-box proprietary vendor blobs everything is built on are. Open-source software doesnāt mean open-source drivers. Getting a real Linux phone is exactly how you start cutting those blobs out and actually owning the device instead of renting it from a vendor.
AI is convenient but not always right. I have used it for web searches when trying to get Ubuntu Touch to work better on our BraX3 and found that the majority of things it finds donāt work on our phone.
My dad said I should write code by hand, heās also a programmer but I have to ask you. Can you write 10k lines of code per day? Not all ai models are built for this purpose. The ai needs access to the files and access to the device and you canāt get that from a browser. Also if someone does do this they need to make sure they get their personal info removed before sharing that must be an explicit step.
AI seems to be everywhere anymore. My banks use it for customer service. My financial advisor uses it on his site to comb through 30 years of radio broadcasts and give someone an answer based on what he has said. I guess programmers are using it too-I never realized it till now.
Right now is the time to use it because it wonāt always be this cheap. Small tasks will be obtainable but the prices are going to be out of reach for regular folks for meaningful work.
I have used it for web searches when trying to get Ubuntu Touch to work better on our BraX3 and found that the majority of things it finds donāt work on our phone. U know how to use it better than I do but just know it isnāt always right.
I was wondering why youāre userdata.img file was so huge when uncompressed!
I think this is why I was having trouble. After u unlock the bootloader it erases everything on your phone. So u need to boot back into your phone and re-enable the USB debugging and then get it to remember your computer before all the fastboot commands work.
I didnāt flash it twice but had to boot into LunarOS twice and change developer settings.
I got that here:
Iām updating the instructions, Iām sorry there is a specific way it must be flashed will have changes up shortly.
