PayPal in general, advice request🤮

Need experienced advice to ponder. I have started a part time gig and at times clients want to pay with PayPal. I hate this but its unavoidable at times.
Its hard to explain to people WHY I don’t want to do this… They don’t get it and worse are a little unsettled by my persistence. ( aka I’m not a sheeple and this unintentionally indicates they are… ) Know what I mean?:woman_shrugging:t3:

No… I do not use the app. I use web browser.

I didn’t want to connect PayPal to any current bank accounts, since they access your data, balance etc… Zuck that. :expressionless_face: so I let it create a dang PP debit card. I do t want to use it. But you have to choose a method to “accept” the Payment.

I’m thinking, maybe just open a savings account specifically as a account to just transfer P. P. payments too. I’d just transfer it out immediately. Then there will be no purchase or balance history to mine during “periodic” data collection.

Am I solving the worst part of the data issues?

? Any better options?
I appreciate you and your time, Brax community people. :sunrise_over_mountains:

I gave up pay pal a few years back.

PayPal is anti gun with policies that allow them to sieze accounts that use PayPal for gun related transactions.

Because my business is gun related, I stopped using PayPal and their sister company venmo.

Suffice it to say, its not hard to get along without them. I use zelle and can make electronic transactions directly to my bank account without fear of PayPal controlling my funds.

F them.

The answer is simple  you tell them NO you don’t use Paypal or have an account. Then tell them what forms of payment you do accept.

Offers discounts if they pay with CASH, most people jump on this.

While I understand the blunt, if not entirely- not helpful comment. What forms similar to PayPal… are privacy friendly and easy for a non tech community to use.
** I moved to the mountains where communities are small, wonderful yet not tech savy. I’m new here and not in any position to change people.

If ya ain’t got anything Helpful to my needs… I’d skip my post.

I think people have provided useful feedback, though perhaps not in manner in which is comfortable for you. I run a handyman business and I run into the PP/Venmo situation frequently. The response I utilize is to to tell them the numerous options I do offer, but none of them are PP/Venmo. Zelle is my favorite since there’s no fees and it’s fast. Credit card options are always there, but pricey. Cash and check are frequently chosen by my older/retired clientele. If you aren’t comfortable telling them you don’t offer Paypal/Venmo, then you either start using it or consider there aren’t many options outside of what people have suggested here.

Ask them to Zelle/Venmo it to you. It’s very easy, much better than PayPal, lower fees.
You can just tell them you had a bad experience with PayPal and won’t use them again.
Think about that Comic Book writer who funded his own Comic and they kept the KickStarter or IndieGogo money locked up until he could deliver something.

Just look at your checking account, it likely already allows either Zelle or Venmo.

(BTW if all else fails, take the extra $$ how you were doing it and while spending it just think of the sweet, sweet non-1099 trackable cash you’re earning)

Sorry if you felt not helpful, but its YOUR business, so YOU decided what forms of payment you accept or not. It is not up to the “customers” to decide anything or how they want to pay you. Its what YOU as the business owner chooses. Not sure what you found wrong with this. your running a business and if YOU do not want to accept Paypal, then don’t.

I wanted to add, I am a very straight forward person  and sometimes do word things kinda off. So I am sorry if I did that here was not my intention.

Oh man, BobO. I love this reply. Thank you for this. One would typically just call this “irony”. I’ll lean into synchronicity. . I can be a pretty blunt…frank person with people as swell. I been accused only a few times of being a tad too blunt. The marshmallow generations :smirking_face:.

No offense my friend… And I really appreciate people who step up and set pride aside. The world would be in a hell’of a better place right now, if small steps like this..happened a lot more. :raising_hands:t2:

It is not my business. Work is coming from someone else’s over flow & being shared. I was trying not to go into boring details. I just wanted logistics options. I completely agree with u, if it was just me calling the shots, it all would be privacy structured.

I live off grid and have worked privacy other ways. There are no public or private wires on my property, for one. I have my own septic & water. My starlink is only on when I use it. then unplugged. No Bluetooth crap. blah blah etc.

Hitting every target, perfectly, to shield ones data is hard work. I hit some and that’s better than a lot of people.

Here in the small mountain “towns” the lions share of people use FB to reach their communities and customers. There are road signs missing and tons of roads little roads. Paved and gravel. Its not the wild west but damn hard to navigate not using google. Which I don’t. I’m ranting now… I digress.
Needless to say, I have accepted these challenges to building a home live off grid. Some days I just pleed with the universe for a simple fix to a “seemingly” simple problem.

 Nope…
So BobO, that’s my amendment to my comment.
Better to laugh than cry when it, life ,gets unbearably frustrating. And just keep truck’n. And, maybe… make a apple pie and just eat the whole damn thing and think about my life choices… :sunrise_over_mountains:

I sell a pcb worldwide and needed a global service. I had a similar issue with using Paypal, credit card or ebay. They are seller unftiendly and will do chargebacks at any whim the buyer might have.

So I use Wise, they have direct transfer accounts in most jurisdictions with multi currency. So your customer can do a local currency transfer to a local bank.
