Strange text appeared after voice to text

I really struggle to thumb type…so installed the Futo voice to text to my keyboard. Works ok…not fussed on the typing delay and the fact that it stops listening if I take a breath…but anyhow…at the end of a message I was sending on the Molly (Signal) app…it types this!!!: “Join me at www.pewdie.co.uk Thank you.”. I’m in Australia, got nothing suspect installed on my device as far as I know…this is creepy…what should I do apart from delete the Futo keyboard and dictation add on…

Do they show ads to try to get your to pay? Also is this only with that 1 app or happens when typing anything?

Great questions. I did get some random text appear one other time…can’t remember where it appeared. Nothing other than the text…nothing interactive or asking me to do anything…I’ll take note for next time, but I’m tempted to just delete the Futo keyboard and voice apps. Keen to know if anyone else has had this sort of oddness occur…

Try Whisper with the Heliboard keyboard, what I use for voice to txt.

Voice to text is a good way to get your voice in the cloud! :scream:

Get a USB-C adapter and plug in a full size USB keyboard! :nerd_face:

Been using the futo keyboard and voice to text for about 9 months, I have never generated any odd messages. Curious as to what the solution is

IKR! I was hoping that fdroid products might generally be more privacy focussed…I never used the feature on my Apple phone for just that reason…smelt a rat years ago…audio all goes off somewhere and comes back as text when I’m sure it could all be easily handled on the device. Dark agendas! I really need it for when I’m on the go…otherwise I’m on my laptop, so keyboard not an option. thanks for your feedback Lazarus :slight_smile:

FYI…just did a search for private offline voice to text and apparently Futo is private :thinking: , it only accesses internet to update language models.

I can only go off of what Louis Rossman says, but AFAIK Futo does all voice to text processing on the phone.

Thanks Ricketts…so it does sound like the safest option…Since my post, the Futo keyboard glitched up (stopped being full width on screen) and the microphone button disappeared…so I deleted them…and then the whole fdroid app disappeared!!..lol…then reinstalled it all when I was in a better mood…maybe with a clean slate whatever the issue was will be gone :crossed_fingers: :thinking: :zany_face:

I think they all work on device only as that is how Whisper does it too.
