The option to switch off the microphone I like. If it works? I don’t know. But my biggest problem is when I take a video I have to turn it on, that’s good. Only after I finished recording it would be great that is was turn off again, now I sometimes forget to turn it off. It is posdible to get a popup as well or auto turn off and on when using the camera.
The microphone should have a permission for every app, using it with the camera doesn’t mean that another app can use it too.
The permissions have variations like use it any time, use it only when the app is active.
I always select it to be accessible only when the app is active.
There is also a setting in privacy controls where you turn it off completely.
I think if you have the microphone set to be on only while the camera/video app is open, then the only way to get the microphone to shut down is to shut down the app. If you stop recording, but leave the app running in the background, there is still a possibility that the mic could be active. I kind of assume that if I stop recording, and push the app to the background, that the mic (and camera) are no longer active, but I might be too trusting in that regard. I generally close any apps quickly after I am done using them
What is called “active app” on Android is very specific and you can search on the internet or ask Plamen. It is when running in the foreground and in the case of background apps you see the respective icon on the status bar like the camera, the microphone and the location.
Anyway again only the camera would use the microphone and not other apps so since it’s open source you know that it doesn’t send data anywhere else.
This is not what I mean. When you open de camera app and start recording video, but have the microphone turn off, you get a pop-up to avtivate the microphone. Else no sound in the video. But if you are finished recording or close the camera app the microphone is not turn off automatically. But stays turn on.
Yes it unblocks it persistently, this should be an Android feature but still the apps should have a permission to use it and be activated.
