File Transfer & USB Tethering Options are now greyed out and cannot be accessed.

Developer option is on

Check the cable, you should hear a sound and the phone should be charging but this doesn’t mean that the data part of the cable works.

It was working prior to the update: Tried another Data USB cable just to make sure.

The phone does go to charging mode when connected to Computer USB.

for me it works both on Linux and Windows, the charging is always enabled

Ok. I rebooted the phone with it connected to the PC, All of the greyed-out items came back. I was able to get to files. However, could not use the USB Tethering. I can select it, but PC doesn’t connect to internet. Can this be confirmed?

There was another user who stated this on Brax.me

My USB tethering now doesn’t activate even though it was working well prior to the 7.1 update. It switches to other options instead. When, by luck, it stays on USB tethering option, then no Internet is provided anyway.

Can you confirm what devices are you connecting to for the USB tethering.
Is it another Android device, PC?

And what are you trying to do exactly - give internet through USB tethering to your BraX3 device or give your BraX3 through USB tethering from your other device?

Also, what was the OS version you used when USB tethering last worked?

After testing, I’ve identified issues with both USB tethering and file transfer.

I get a strange behavior for file transfer like I have a bad cable that loses the connection and the Gnome file manager crashes, I thought it was the cable.

Very possible that the cause is the cable. Have you tried with different cables, different devices, etc.
And is it something that you could only reproduce on the latest OS version or you had it all along?

I rarely use the file transfer, it doesn’t seem to happen when I bend the cable, I will have to test it with different cables at some point.

After updating from 7.0 to 7.1 today, I can no longer tether the phone to my Win laptop, Win desktop, or Linux desktop. The option is there and gets enabled when the cable is plugged in, but turning tethering on seems to do nothing. I’ve used 4 different cables that all tether in the past.

This is critical for me as I live on a farm with no other internet access. Thankfully the phone still has internet, but I need to pass that service on to the other machines.

I have rebooted the phone and PCs, but I haven’t yet tried the developers tools trick.

Update - Enabling Developer mode made no difference.

I can reproduce the same. I’ve updated the issue on iode’s board and I’ve pinged their devs about it.

I am able to transfer files and USB tethering at iodeOS beta 7.2-20260122-brax3.
