Hi, im looking at this and wondering if there are any privacy concerns with the “HX AI 16” (remember hearing something about Ai being incorporated into hardware might be a vulnerability), and if its an appropriate choice for lynx? thanks for the help in advance.
A MSI Vector 16 HX Al 16" QHD+
240Hz Gaming Laptop (Intel Core
Ultra 9) [GeForce RTX 5070]
I’d run away from Windows 11 with co-pilot built in.
But I am not sure what’s a good alternative if you’re looking at gaming options.
I have the MSI Raider GE68 HX 14VGG with GeForce 4070. It is very similar aesthetically and functionally, but is a 2024 model. The biggest privacy difference is that it is NOT rated as a Copilot + AI system and is therefore less susceptible to Microsoft’s AI spyware.
Both models have dual M.2 slots, and I run Ubuntu Linux on a dedicated drive, so there are no issues with dual booting. I only use Windows for a couple applications that I need for work, otherise I would ditch Windows 11 altogether.
i just tried to check if it had copilot but couldnt determine if it had it or not. im new to computers and had a long gap between keeping up with the times. Does anybody know if this model has copilot. If it does its a deal breaker for me.
Looking at their website it indicates that the operating system is Windows11 pro which has copilot integrated. You indicated that you were wanting to know if the laptop was compatible with linux. I am not a linux expert and will let someone else direct you in that regard. I can say that if the hardware will support linux and you find a distro that will work best for what you want it to do, then installing linux and wiping windows 11 pro should take care of the AI/copilot issue. Having said that I seem to remember seeing a vid regarding Intel doing some nefarious stuff inside their new chipsets. I cannot remember the tech reporter or channel though and I could be way off. Good luck!
i think i recall something about the USA possibly Australia too having passed laws requiring govt back doors and if there arent any but its requested then they are expected to incorporate them. i cant remember the laws but i was mortified when i first heard it.
