APKPure & Aurora Store Questions and Advice

Hi all, just wondering if anyone with more experience with APKPure and Aurora (on iodé) can quickly help clarify some things for me (just having trouble finding info searching):

1. It seems there is no way to stop APKPure from suggesting updates for all apps on the phone. This is obviously very annoying… Is best solution to just turn off update notifications for this? Or is there a better way?

2. I understood Aurora lets you tell it to only update apps it installed - but I can’t see where you do that in it’s settings. I did find the blacklist but can’t quite figure out how that works and some apps seem blacklisted by default (I couldn’t intuit why), but others aren’t and some don’t show at all (e.g. today I got an update for Google Play Services, I told it to never update this app in the update screen options, but it doesn’t show in the blacklist - so are they 2 different things and doing that hid it? How does the blacklist logic work for Aurora and should you blacklist or do the never update thing, if they aren’t the same?

3. What privacy concerns are here around APKPure - can you lock it down, do you need to, would you want to? Can you restrict access? I’m only expecting to add a couple of apps through it initially so just trying to minimise it’s presence given the horrible ‘noise to signal ratio’ and high amount of chaff it contains…

Any guidance gratefully accepted.

Why use the apkpure app when you can use a browser (like Brave) to go to apkpure.net?

Or even better, why not use Obtainium to install and update an app from the app’s apkpure.net download page?

The nice thing about using Obtainium is that it will check for updates and install them if it finds them.

If you manually install from an apk file, you have to manually look for and install updates yourself.
