Aw... another wedge, more division

To all community members, but in particular to those affected by yet another devastating violent and destructive move the US political/mil… industrial complex is a player in…
My heart goes out to you. I don’t know how we will see these moments stop. I am 59 soon and just cant believe how Orwellian distruction and death has become. Too easy. Too aimplified. Sanitized when it is anything but…

War has no sign of intelligence, wisdom or progress towards prosperity and peace for anyone. This is another epic geopolitical move sowing division when humanity needs bridges more than ever. ** on the other hand it is also creating solidarity from otherwise unlikely groups to openly question military ops across the globe… Any Shawn Ryan or Ironclad fans in here?

This is not a political statement. So settle down if you wanna fire at me…. Just take a beat. A deep breath.

Be it in my backyard, my town or my friends on others continents… its all the same. I see War as a fertilizer that grows military coffers and yealds everyone else an aftermath of death, trauma, dispare, poverty, starvation and confusion. What a horrible trade off for just being ignorant to the seeds of war…..

No amount of Brax or linux equipment is gonna protect us in the US from being next… be it from affar or our own government. Period. A “life worth living” will ONLY be possible through bonds we build with the friends, neighbors and communities near you and we take care of them. We must put differences aside to see eachother as brothers, sisters ie as extended family… Connection fosters understanding, compassion and comradery “that is essential” to weather a unknown ( fill in the blank ).

Thank you to those who read and your thoughtful responces.

Basically don’t believe the news, the specialists, the doctors and AI or not videos with smoke and explosions etc, soon you’ll be called to lock down yourself and eat cockroach burgers.

Understood. I dont have to and do not believe everything. I am fine to be ever so aware that the world and its inhabitants are going thru a real f’n interesting time. Some more dramatically intense than others.

Certainly the times are interesting and I believe many things will surface though in an appropriately distorted way to serve the machine, e.g. yes we didn’t go but…

if you are into social interaction better consider it a chance to talk people into not swallowing information, e.g. how much more in taxes and price increase do I have to pay if I believe into explosions and rubber babies and how much more those showing those videos will make?

This is true and a good outlook. I’m old enough to have lived through the cold war and the GWOT, along with having older parents, so I’ve got a good view of attitudes post WWI/WWII. The reality is that every generation feels this way to one extent or another, and pending the second coming, we’ll always have war, and suffering, and politicians doing shady crap. The best we can do is hold our ground. Build relationships in meatspace, have practical skills you can use to trade or barter, and don’t make it any easier for the enemies of freedom than necessary.

I totally agree. Its surreal to look back. I think I was in my late 20’s when I started to wonder why is all the silverware I’m seeing made in China? Then hammers, CONVERSE tennis shoes etc. A small but early awareness that simply basic items were made elsewhere… And now look where that landed us.

In Junior high my school offered wood working, stain glass and metal working, welding & auto mechanics elective credit classes. I did Wood, and metal shop. Those classes changed my life.

Im guessing your generation would of had more in depth trade courses, all be it fewer girls taking them?

I am sure I am building my own home currently, with confidence, purely due to exposure to those skills and tools. In retrospect I don’t let the state of the world freak me out too much, knowing I can build things I want have and fix a lot of things myself.
I am just old enough to completely see the writing on the wall….more electronics/bluetooth/wifi crap is the wrong way to go. I left an industry that showed without question where the direction of Oracle and all things connected were leading too.

…. I cant help but ask…. what are “rubber babies” suppost to mean?

Neither here nor there anymore. The future “todays”…. will definately be unlike anything in my life time of yesturdays. But. No worries. I got cocoa/ aka chocolate in stock

You’ll notice mechatronic babies and people covered in white powder on the internet usually accompanied by some link to send money. You can also get an idea of our times through myths like the Atlantis and others.

wow :face_with_monocle: I have not come across these. wth? We must be electronically running in different cirles ,. Hmm powder people & rubber babies visit the internet in digital saucers. :flying_saucer: Thanks for the explanation.

My circumstances were unique, but generally, yes, most folks my age had extensive access to hands on practical learning. In high school you could elect to go a trade route and be prepared to be a competent beginner in a trade - plumbing, electrical, hvac, etc. More importantly than that, though, my parents and grandparents still did as much of their own work as they could and passed down that know-how to us. I didn’t learn to work on cars because I liked it, I learned because when my starter failed, I didn’t have $600 to give a shop, but I could come up with $50 to get a used one from the junk yard; as a bonus, I got to practice taking it out, before repeating the process on my own vehicle.

When I was in my young 20’s a man probly in his young 40’s who worked at the local Auto parts store encouraged and convinced me to work on my own car, like his daughter does. A book, some tools and talking to my retired nieghbor to ask questions…. long story short I replaced a timing belt and alternator.

You never know where inspiration will come from but I am damn grateful to those skilled and kind enough to encourage and help others to learn. Even a girrrrrlllllll back in the early 90’s :smirking_face:

I wreck’n (or hope) today’s dynamic world happens will inspire more self reliance that in turn fosters greater connection to their communities ( kinda sounds like a oxymoron but ya get what I mean)

I managed to get a Open-Slate Pro and Linux will be a new thing to learn. It just never ends….
