Why are the fps and HDR buttons grayed out on the Camera app when I switch it to video mode?

The basic app may not support those modes. Have you tried Open Camera on FDroid? It is a lot more configurable, although I don’t know if it supports HDR in video mode.

Thanks – I installed it and it has a lot more features. But…I don’t see it’s icon to open it after installing?

You don’t see it if you swipe from the bottom up to reveal all the installed apps?

If you see it there, hold down on it and drag it to which ever screen you want it to appear and release. You can even replace the stock camera app icon by holding down on that icon and moving it off the top of the screen. Move the Open Camera app to the place it formerly resided (if that is what you want to do!).

Removing icons does not uninstall the app; it remains in the all apps icon screen.

Ok that worked, thanks. Had to remember I need to swipe with 2 fingers to see my installed apps.
