Did you get your phone to work?, I can’t connect to WiFi or cellular data at all. Been 2 day’s trying. On Optus network, showing full bars and a 5 g symbol but no connectivity. Pretty disappointing.
Yes, its working to a point. I get 5g connectivity (not at home much but thats a network issue). I can connect to 3 out of 4 relevant wifi modems. Cant do wifi calling without there being mobile coverage.
My best guess is that the 5g stuff will relate to the sim settings (apn, prefer 5g, data turned on etc.)
The wifi not connecting is a known issue on some modems, best fixed by trying a few routers til one works rather than waiting for a fix here imho
Does it revert back to 4g if there’s no 5g? I get no data at all. Checked all the settings and made sure everything is turned on. What network are you on? Just found out the speakers also sound crap. So far not happy at all, wondering how much it will cost to send back. I should have listened to my mate and got a pixel phone with graphene
Im on Boost. It does drop back to 4g. I feel your pain mate. Ifs been a long wait, and theres enough glitches to make the phone tedious (apps crashing etc).
But i dont think theres anyone reporting a general 5g issue. I dont have an optus sim to try. I could try and get one and throw it in mine and see what happens maybe?
I’m on Optus via Moose Mobile so I’ll check tomorrow when I setup the phone. I’ve been away for a week since they arrived.
I think they got it sorted (mentioned on another thread). 'Twas the APN settings.![]()
Yes it was the apn which was the issue. I still had problems doing it manually even last night as mms stopped working again. I hit the reset for all apns which automatically uploaded a whole new set of Australian apn settings which it automatically picked optus. I left it on this option and tested it, was perfect, all issues resolved. I now get all types of messages without an issue
I have the same problem - UK - I’m not at all tech so depend on Brax support. I can’t find a solution here. Is there a centralised support library of info anywhere?
Hey Jiff. There’s no central library as such I don’t think but “search’ is your friend.
What is your actual issue? No mobile connection? Maybe we can sort it out here
Thanx Sparkle! I have two connection issues.
I have a SIM card that is good for voice connection but can’t download the OS upgrade (to make sure I have known issues covered) - it gets the bar up and then gives up after a couple of minutes.
I cannot connect to wifi. The router is recognised but once the password is entered to connect , the phone comes up with ‘unable to connect’ message.
Any ideas extremely welcome. TIA.
Do you have access to the router settings? If you do, can you try changing your router WiFi setting from WPA2 to open, then you should be able to connect, and leave it as that just to do the download of the upgrade, then put it back to WPA2 to secure it again.
So is the sim voice only, or is there supposed to be data available on it but it won’t connect?
The suggestion to connect to the router without security is good - it’ll be fine for such a short period of time while you download the update. If you can’t log in, some routers have the WPA button on the front for a quick connection which will bypass the WiFi issue you are experiencing
It’s new and has 20gb data. I can research logging into the router / WPA button later. Thank you!
Thank you! I’ll be trying this later …..
Alternatively, if you have data on your new SIM, and you aren’t able to get data to work you may need to change the APN settings. Searching your carrier name and APN settings should show you what they should be. Usually it is a quick fix and data starts working immediately
Maybe your carrier is listed here?
Here are steps to get to those settings
Ah - when I go to Acces Point Names, the section titled ‘Choose network’ (and has Vodafone UK underneath) is greyed out. ? What to do next?
Also- re WiFi - I only have a WPS button but the phone won’t connect when I get the blue light flashing on the router.
I’ve impressed myself by following your WPA2 instructions - have downloaded update and … Amazing - It’s all working now!
I’m so impressed by your help - THANK YOU whatdoyoumean and Sparkle . I’ve no doubt I’ll be back again in a short while, but I was already beginning to lose heart re the phone.
What a great start.
To get your data working on your mobile you can probably follow the steps from Vodafone’s help pages on this device, from steps 5 through to 25 should be the same as for the Brax3.
Although it wasn’t the same, I was able to use the general approach to dig into the phone and choose the right setting for this pre-pay SIM - after a few dud choices.
So yes, thank you - phone is fully operational now.
I am trying to avoid downloading the carrier’s app but am not sure if it’s possible when i get to top up time. The basic menu of functions that comes on the SIM itself - including the top up - are not operational for some reason. But the carrier website confirms the data and that it is operational.
Since the most recent iode 6.9 update, cellular network connectivity (not WiFi - that is fine for me and I have seen the other posts) is poor. I am in the UK, connect to a 4G network, using ID Mobile (3 network/carrier). This mainly affects indoors but against multiple other devices, the zero mobile comms compares to decent signal strength on other devices for the same network and the same SIM (micro).
Originally this was not an issue and has only appeared since the most recent iode OS update. Hopefully this is a known bug and can be remedied. Anyone else found a way to remedy this one? I suspect it is OS<>drivers related.
