Brax3 Repair — Faulty Charging Port

Please provide guidance for repair: my Brax 3 no longer charges because its charging port is faulty. I initially thought that the charger cable that was faulty, but I tested the cable with various USB-C devices (including a second Brax 3), and it charges all other devices perfectly, rapidly, and without fail. Thus the fault is with the one Brax 3’s charging port.

Did you look into the port to see if there is any dirt or dustbunnies stuck in there? Maybe a quick shot with some canned air might be something to try first, just in case

On this note of dust bunny

I’ve had to use a safety pin. Scraping around the bottom of the charging port. The issue is, dust bunnies, other ‘dirt’ gets jammed into the port, every time you push the plug in.

There’s a chance of damage when using a metal tool to clean the contacts. I actually use a magnetic type C cable. The type C plug stays in the phone the whole time, and the magnetic cable section just self centers and pops on when you need to charge. This keeps dirt out of the port. I’ve been using these for years, on my old Nexus 6, S8, S22 and now my Brax 3 with no issues. I imagine there is a chance of something shorting out the out pins on the type C portion, but they are slightly recessed and have never been a problem for me. It made it super easy to pop the charging cord back on the phone when I was in and out of my work truck 30 times a day

I had a similar thing happen on my Pinephone, charging had become unreliable. I sprayed a little DeoxIT contact cleaner in the USB port and plugged/unplugged the cable several times. Works just fine now.

I had the issue with my Sansung S10E. Had some salt water build up and other debris in the USB C port. I solved that issue using a tooth pick that I made thinner with a sharp knife and sprayed some WD40 oil. 10/10
