I am using a Brax3 phone and trying to set up my Google account via microG settings. I have already granted all the necessary permissions in the Self-Check list, including “Contacts” for microG Services. However, whenever I try to add an account, I get the error: “Sorry, there was a problem communicating with Google servers.”
I have tried restarting the phone and using different internet connections, but the issue persists. Can anyone guide me on how to fix this so I can use Gmail ?
Yeah you can’t easily log into Google with microG and ideally you shouldn’t.
If you are trying to recover paid apps there may be an alternate way, you’d need to search for it, but not sure its reliable…
Personally I don’t even do that. I use Brave as my chrome based browser, never log into Google anywhere on the device (i.e. any app), and Brave has a great anonymous YouTube access tool built in too!
Basically ideal world is you should not use any Google, Microsoft, Facebook/Meta, TikTok or similar account or app on the device if you can avoid it. Otherwise as others have said if you really have to use one do it in a good privacy browser, if possible isolate it from your main profile, and only use that browser for that purpose…
