I fully understand this is not legal in lots of jurisdictions.
would this GitHub - chenxiaolong/BCR: A Basic Call Recorder for rooted Android devices
work on a brax 3 ??
iodeOS on BraX3 can be rooted, and its android-based. Technically should work.
Installing an app is legal. Its the activity (how the app is used) that is legal and illegal.
Phone calling app is legal. But calling people to extort them isn’t.
We obviously don’t condone illegal activities.
Is there call recording available in the built-in phone app? If I go to ⋮ → Settings → Sounds and vibration, there’s a section at the bottom to select an “Audio format” for “Call recording”. I’m not sure how to actually initiate recording, though. But that option makes me think that it’s a possibility somehow.
(And yes, just to reiterate, I’m aware that in my jurisdiction I would need to inform whomever I’m speaking with if I want to record a call.)
Hi Peter,
I can’t see that in my settings as you describe (Ver6.8) which is puzzling ..
I hear the callU app works on brax3.
Hmm. That’s odd. I’m running iode 6.7 August 30. If I hold the phone icon down, choose App Info, at the bottom it says “version 23.0 com.android.dialer”. Here’s what I see, with circles around what I tap:
Again, it’s not clear to me how to actually start recording in the selected audio format. But it sure looks like there’s some sort of recording feature built in somewhere.
@PeterCooperJr Sorry its taken a few months ..but yes I can see what you have described ..Like yourself I can’t see a way of accessing a way to record
Looks like this post was not really addressed. Does Brax3 have the ability to record calls on demand from the dialer app?
Yes it does. Check this thread: Automatic call recording feature - options for Brax3 phone - #9 by jdking888
Thanks, plamen. The thread that you linked to is about automatic call recording and the need to root the phone. i am wondering, like PeterCooperJr and Grumpyoldsod above, if Brax3 has the ability to record calls on demand (not automatically) from the dialer app, without having to install a 3rd party app.
I should’ve been more specific. Vincent from iode team answers it in the post i references:
The News for iode 7.2 includes “Call recording: removal of the limitation of this feature depending on the country”. So I think the latest version lets one record directly from the default phone app. And it just worked for me when I tested it just now, there’s a “Record” button there which wasn’t there before, which saved a file in the “Recordings/Call recording” folder.
See also the discussion in the iodé community about call recording as it may be of use following on from @PeterCooperJr’s comment:
Really would like call recording on indeOS on the Brax3! When google broke this on regular android, it made me hate them all the more.
It should be just a small piece of code in the phone app that Lineage removed for legal reasons. I will look into the source but currently I’m lazy to code and compile.
Maybe the voice data is something different thatn the permissions to make a call , this is why I read something that it needs rooting.
