Can I run a virtual machine one iod’OS using the Brax 3? I would like to prevent client side scanning by using a virtual machine. Presently I run POPOS and VirtualBOX to run Windows 10 on my PC. I use the following to protect my PC and Host. * Disable file sharing between host and guest.

  • :white_check_mark: Use local Windows account (not a Microsoft account).
  • :white_check_mark: Turn off cloud syncing tools like OneDrive or Windows Backup.
  • :white_check_mark: Disable telemetry and unnecessary services in Windows.
  • :white_check_mark: Do not install suspicious software in your VM.
  • :white_check_mark: Keep both host and guest OS up to date.
  • :white_check_mark: Use network segmentation or VPNs to isolate activity from the host.

I understand why you’d want to do that on a windows machine. The iodeOS running on BraX3 is decluttered and private. There is no data collection/user tracking on OS level. If you still want to isolate apps from another, you can use an app like Shelter to create different Android profiles.

If instead of a full-blown virtual machine, you are just looking for a sandboxed space (or container) for any of your apps (or alternate copies of your apps) OR individual files, check out Android Private Space. (I have never used it but I believe Iode OS supports it. Anything with Android 15 or later supports it)

Private Space enables users to create a secure, isolated environment on their device to keep sensitive apps away from prying eyes. Apps in the private space show up in a separate container in the launcher, and are hidden from the recents view, notifications, settings, and from other apps when the private space is locked.

The sandboxed space is a separate Android profile When the end user adds or installs an app inside private space, the app is installed in this new Android profile. The system treats this as a fresh app install, and no app data is copied over to the private space. When the space is locked, the private profile user is stopped, and when the space is unlocked, the user is started.

Apps in the private space are installed as separate copies of the apps in the main space. User content (user-generated or downloaded) and user accounts are separated between the private space and the main space. You can use the system Sharesheet and the Photo Picker to give apps access to content across spaces only when the private space is unlocked.

I thought about this possible solution because of Rob Braxman Technician latest discussion of Client side browsing. I frequently use virtual machines for testing different operating systems. Thanks for your reply.

Good explanation, thank you. I have never tried a virtual machine on a smartphone. To solve the client side issue on smartphones i use el cheapo flipper dumbphones with a VPN and one time use.
