I’m unable to receive text messages from multiple contacts. I switched to brax unlisted service and still can’t receive from those people. I made sure they weren’t blocked but it says, unable to send, on their end. Any ideas?
What device did you use before switching to a brax?
I had a Galaxy Note 20. I have been having the Brax3 for a few months now. I had my service though straight talk wireless until Monday when I switched to Brax unlisted. This problem started a week or so ago while using Brax 3. I can get texts from anyone except for a few people that I know of. I can text them and call but the texts from them won’t even send from their phones. I’m not blocked in their end and they are not blocked on mine
It sounds like the behavior that happens when previously SMS was being routed through iMessage from Apple, though you didn’t use Apple so I’m inclined to think it’s something similar with RCS. Maybe someone with more experience in this matter can fill in the gaps but that is the direction I’d look to begin with.
Thanks for the response
If you can send and receive to everyone else that is showing its setup and working fine.
See what these few people have in common, are they all iPhone users, all using Google Messages that has RCS, all live in the same state/area and things like that.
Something simple to try, tell them to use your entire number 1-XXX-555-1212 and see what happens. Some area are requiring the area code now or call fails.
The only thing they have in common is that they all have straight talk as their service provider.
If they are blocking the Brax3 in Australia then maybe that is what’s happening here. It happened all of a sudden.
Unless there are only two of them then some of them must have OS in common. Often what happens when you switch to a system that isn’t using RCS or iMessage to a system that can only do SMS/MMS is that the contacts you once communicated with who may still be using one of those two services are trying to send to your number but that is being routed through RCS or iMessage. In you case you had a Galaxy and were probably using RCS.
The issue with Australia is a different level of blocking/filtering in which the phone won’t work with the carrier. Yours is at the level of routing sms. I would look up details on how to remove your number from RCS. My bet is that if you had a new number that has never used RCS you’d have no problems getting SMS/MMS from anyone.
I been using the Brax3 for about 6 months with straight talk as my provider and this issue happened about 2 weeks before I switched to brax sim. I went through all the settings and just can’t make sense of it. I send and receive messages to and from everyone else
That is curious indeed. If it were the phone itself you’d see far more erratic behavior with more than just a few contacts. It could be some software intercepting but you’ve not mentioned installing any strange software for SMS/MMS. If it were the sim you would not have had it happen before switching to Brax Sim.
Ask your friends to turn off RCS and see what happens. On my Samsung in the messages, you can choose to use RCS or not. Also see if they have another phone to try.
I am not sure about iPhones, but should be a way to turn things off or just use sms and not iMessage with private relay and all that. I think there is a “send only sms” option somewhere.
Only thiings to try to help narrow down the problem.
I will do that and let you know. Thx for the response
That didn’t work either. I’m not sure where to go from here. Open to suggestions lol
