On paper it sounds like it could work, but the Cape app gets an error downloading the eSIM. For security reasons they’re requiring installation only through the app so I can’t manually import it. Has any one else tried Cape, or seen a similar issue?
Cape is pretty new (at least to the consumer market) and I have already seen they have some chinks in the armor, so it may very well be a not very robust app. But maybe this is some kind of configuration problem, or?
I’ve had similar issues with smaller telecoms that rely on larger networks and mandate app-based actions. It’s possible Cape’s app will never work without the tied in google bullshit. There a number of apps that do stupid security checks.
One workaround (im reaching) might be using another phone that passes the app’s checks to access a scannable QR code for the eSIM installation?
Since Cape’s entire mission is to be privacy-first, I’m pretty certain they don’t have any allegiance to anything google. The service is pretty interesting, especially the capability they have to switch IMEI numbers on the fly to prevent tracking. This is where I ran across it:
Anyway, their devs haven’t come back to support yet as to how to address the problem, although I did find this that seemed to get me closer to working:
But it still failed ultimately the download. I’ve suggested that they add another button next to their download button that copies the esim data to the clipboard, so that I can import it through the clipboard instead
Now that several months have passed. Has anyone tried to connect to CAPE lately? Still want to give them a try, but I’m concerned about the Brax3 not being able to connect to their system.
Their app installs on my Brax3, but I haven’t tried to register an account yet.
