Created account on Indiegogo and bought BraX3 phone and case, after payment Indiegogo locked my account

Hello,

Two days ago on 28th of May I created an account on Indiegogo to buy the BraX3 phone and the rugged case and after successfully registering and paying they locked my account. I received an email with the subject “Your Indiegogo account has been locked” and the following content :
" Hello …,

We recently noticed some unusual activity on your account and have taken the step to lock it to ensure your safety and the integrity of the platform.

If this activity wasn’t initiated by you, please let us know right away so we can let you know next steps to secure your account. If you believe this suspension is an error, we’d be happy to work with you to clarify and resolve the situation.

The safety of our users and the integrity of our platform are top priorities for us. Thank you for your understanding as we work together to address this matter.

Sincerely,
The Indiegogo Team

I contacted them immediately but I didn’t get any answer from them almost 60 hours later…
My debit card was charged with 339 USD and I have the bank statement as proof.
Can anyone advice how should I proceed?

I don’t know what the exact email address it, but @plamen on this site is the Project Owner. Maybe you can private message him here, to get some attention on this.

Hi …,

We investigated unusual activity on the Indiegogo account associated with this email address. The Indiegogo account in question was therefore suspended in order to prevent any further suspicious actions from taking place.

Our investigation showed that this activity was not related to a breach of Indiegogo’s security systems, but was likely related to usernames and/or passwords that were stolen from another company and then used to create or access accounts on Indiegogo. For your security, we recommend that you change your password on this email account as soon as possible.

We have now been able to verify and reinstate your Indiegogo account. For your security, we’ve sent you a reset password email; please update your password as soon as possible. You will also receive email confirmation instructions from Indiegogo to verify your email address.

OPTIONAL: In addition, I’ve sent your BraX3: the most privacy-friendly smartphone! contribution confirmation email at …

At Indiegogo we take the trust and safety of our community very seriously and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this review process.

Thanks for being a part of the Indiegogo community and we hope you have a wonderful day!

Regards,

Richard Trust & User Operations"

You may have to be on the site a bit to get that feature enabled… I can’t remember. But once you do:

  • you can click your user badge, and the 4th icon is a Messages icon. Then click the down arrow.

or

  • click the Navigation menu (the hamburger icon) and select Inbox.

Either way should get you to your private message box. Then you can create a new message.

It’s the first time I’ve seen something like that reported from IndieGoGo backers.

Sounds like the issue you had was resolved.
Best to email our team at support@braxtech.net if you still have any order-related issues or concerns.

Thanks for the email address. As I stated in my previous post IndieGoGo unlocked my account and gave me the receipt that I paid and now all is well. That did take them about 72 hours and 3 emails with no response but in the end it was solved, tough I still don’t understand why they locked my account after I paid the product…Anyway, looking forward to receive and test the BraX3 Phone.

They are telling you that your email account password had been stolen, you reuse your passwords as well, so they saw your email address and password on a list and blocked it.

If I am wrong, darn. If I am right, change your password on your accounts that use that same password before someone else does.

The password of the email I used is changed regularly and I don’t use the same passwords of my emails with accounts of other sites. I know for a fact that some websites have access to your password on the registered account, that’s one reason why I don’t use the same password for email and accounts. These are basic steps to protect accounts/email thefts. Anyway hopefully I won’t have to use IndieGoGo in the future…
