I know Robert has mentioned in one of his videos that in order to not use the cellular modem, one simply need not insert a SIM card. However, I’m not going to trust this. Emergency calling is still available without a SIM card, so, the modem must still be active without a SIM card and who knows what else it is doing. Based on my understanding, the firmware on the cellular modems can’t be trusted. I need to FULLY disable the cellular modem on the device. I am not planning to ever use a SIM card or connect the phone to a cellular provider. I am going to be using the WiFi and my own custom setup for VoIP and Internet connectivity.
My question is how do I temporarily or permanently kill the cellular modem on the phone?
It would have been really nice if a physical cellular modem kill switch feature was built into the device (in addition to a physical microphone switch which is also missing). It seems like a no-brainer for this type of product.
I would imagine killing the modem would involve disassembling the device and possibly soldering or desoldering something (also probably voiding the warranty).
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
