I have a good size music library on my Macbook and want to transfer it to my Brax3. I have been able to transfer individual files from my Macbook using Bluetooth File Exchange app. It would take me forever to send those files one by one. I have tried to connect my Brax3 to my Macbook with 2 different USB cables. When I try to change the USB control to connected device, I get a “cannot switch” error message. Default is Brax3 controls the USB. If I dig deep enough in Mac system settings, the Macbook recognizes the Brax3 BUT it does not show up as a externally connected device in my Mac Finder app in spite of that option (connected devices) being switched on the the system settings.
I also have my music on an external SSD drive but when I connect it to the Brax3, the USB cannot switch to the Brax3 control and without that, the file transfer is grayed out.
Has anybody else been successful or any words of wisdom other than switch to a Windows computer. TIA
Thank you @xancudo for trying to help me. Yes, the phone starts charging when I connect it to my Mac with a USB cable. I was able to choose “This device” and check “File Transfer” on my Brax3 as illustrated in your image. The Mac does not show the phone in the Finder menu and there appears to be no way for the phone to tell the computer which files I want to transfer. Since Macs are big proponents of highlight and drag file movement, I was hoping to highlight my music files and drag them to the Brax3 icon in the Finder window to get them transferred. I searched for a way for the phone to find the files on my Mac but couldn’t find anything. Am I missing something? Any other suggestions? TIA
Try selecting the PTP option just to see. That is for cameras usually… but maybe you will see something different happen. You should be able to see the device in Finder, then copy files to it… but I haven’t used a Mac in a while…
Alternatively, if you have a USB flash drive, you could try that option… a work around.
@xancudo Success! I was able to use OpenMTP app (downloaded to my Mac from the website) from the above article that you referenced. I had trouble until I switched the MTP mode to “Legacy”. Then, it worked like a charm. Just drag and drop. Thanks again for your valued advice.
In only what I can describe as one of the more obtuse ways I have had to go about getting OpenMTP to work on my mac with any android device I finally got Brax3 working.. the trick? Go into Android ADB mode. That requires turning on developer options.. To turn on developer mode on an Android device, go to Settings > About phone, tap the Build number seven times, and then enter your PIN if prompted. After the confirmation message appears, you can find the new Developer options menu in Settings > System or by using the search bar in the Settings app.
From there when you connect the phone to your mac select trust on the Brax3 and tell it to “always trust” connections and (at least in my case) OpenMTP worked immediately..
