So we attend some events at venues who use table-specific QR codes for ordering drinks, menu items etc. It appears to be impossible to use the flashlight and simultaneously scan a QR code in either Chrome or the Iode browser. It is therefore impossible to use the Brax for this operation without either another separate phone or a dedicated flashlight.
Why am I unable to turn on the flashlight and scan a QR, or have an option on the QR scan window to use the flashlight? There would seem to be no privacy issue in this operation. Please remedy this shortcoming!
Apologies if this is already addressed in another post (please link!), I tried searching and didnt find anything specifically related.
Thank you for your feedback.
I just found out that you can’t have the flashlight and camera app (needed for scanning QR codes) ON at the same time.
Nonetheless, when using the preinstalled Camera app, you can activate the flashlight when in SCAN mode. You can then scan the QR code with ease.
Hmmm. OK. The preinstalled camera app was so horrible that I havent used it since the day I installed Open Camera (which has no “scan” mode AFAICT) but it appears you are correct. But who uses the camera app to scan a QR code? It would seem far more natural to use a browser…..
Regardless, this is a solution.
I use the QR Scanner tool from the f-droid store and the light works fine in the app itself. By clicking the lighting icon.
