Google Maps and Gmail safe to use?

The iodeOS compatible apps listing includes Gmail and Google maps apps.
While they apparently run, would they be safe to use from a privacy perspective?
To what extent does iodeOS restrict them from doing mischief?

When you use google apps on a degoogled device, when the app is running, the info it can access is based on the permissions it has been given, and only while running (unless you choose otherwise). On stock android, google services have rights to all permissions, at all times, regardless, this is one of the main reasons to get a degoogled device. That said, google is in the business of violating your privacy, so better to get another email provider and use another navegation app. Comaps will likely replace magic earth in the next version of iodeOS.

Thank you for your reply. So while waiting to get comaps in the next version is it still safe to use google maps especially when we have to give google maps permission to use our location. Also does google maps installed from Aurora leaks trip info to google even if we don’t have a google account?
