Giving up on group texts on brax. I tried 3 diffrent messaging apps, still having trouble. Really I’m only active in one group chat with my 2 brothers, my one brother has an apple the other a droid, seems apple is cool with brax, My messages are not visible on the droid. I tried to convince them to use signal, they won’t, they think its CIA created to funnle descent onto one platform. They consider me silly for even attempting to take privacy precautions into my own hands. They may have a point in that avoiding standard services may bring more attention to myself. Thoughts?
A lot of people use signal and allegedly government officials are as well. The things you send are end to end encrypted but the catch is the client side scanning. It doesn’t matter if you use an encrypted tunnel when the people on the receiving end are using compromised devices. As long as you know that and conversations are appropriate to that knowledge then it is what it is.
I’m editing this and adding an addendum. I am not a privacy or security professional and just understand some things. If what I’ve said above is inaccurate I welcome corrections.
Good points, I’m not defending or loving on signal, I just know that it works well with groupe messages. The way I look at it is all my communications are assigned to my simcard/phone#/ID. I get that, I’m more of a normie than a programmer nerd (no offense I highly respect nerds). My reasoning for having brax3 is mainly to be able to turn down my personal dataflow by rejecting YT and the googs. Attempting to control my data means giving some things up, apparently being in the loop with my family is one of them.
I’m using Threema on my Brax3. It works excellently. It’s Swiss and secure. No problems.
I have found the Chomp messaging app to be very good. It allows me to send larger pictures and videos than the default app and other apps I have tried. It also has group messaging but I have not really used it.
One thing, Chomp tries to force ads on you after a few weeks, but if you know how to use the Iode Blocker on the phone, you can go in and block them. ![]()
I’ve been using XMPP with great success.
I’ve been using the QUIK app since early on, and it seems to work fine. I had issues with group texts, etc. My family mostly use Apple except 1 droid user.
