I recently purchased a USB/C to HDMI cable for my Brax 3 but I am unable to get it to work. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I don’t see anything mentioned in the specs that it has HDMI out on the USB-C port. Did you see this somewhere, that would be good to know about.
Btw, when I go to USB devices in settings “controlled by” options are “connected device” and “this decice” and I try to switch it says “couldn’t switch”
It doesn’t specifically say HDMI out but when you go to USB in settings but it has different options. Just none of them work with the HDMI cable. I just want to be able to project what is on my phone (mostly video) to a different/larger screen.
It may not output HDMI that way. You may have to cast your display using an app just for that. I’m pretty sure some of those are in F-Droid. A dock hub may be able to do what you’re trying for as well. I don’t have a Brax3 myself so I can’t try it out. I’ve kicked around the idea of buying on though. Maybe support can more directly answer whether the USB C port has any HDMI out capability.
This is specifically for connecting to other devices such as computers. Is that what you were trying to do when changing that?
I am trying to watch my son’s hockey games on an app called LiveBarn. Unfortunately LiveBarn doesn’t have an app on Roku so that I can watch it on a bigger screen. When I screen share with my phone it lags and freezes.
After some research I am guessing that the brand I have isn’t compatible. Hoping someone from Brax can recommend one that is.
Do you mind sharing what you bought?
Brax–Any advice or work around would be greatly appreciated.

But, Google Cast is described as a proprietary protocol, on a de-Googled phone?
I’m not sure I understand. Would an app on Fdroid make this thing work?
I’m not sure the details on HDMI out of the USB-C port on this device. Another option is to screencast from your device to your tv, if your tv supports it. An app like CastLab | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository may do it. I’ve not tried it as this is not a use case I ever have or need.
I don’t recollect any Brax publicity saying the Brax3 phone could output HDMI. This would require hardware translation in the phone. And when you plug in a USB-C data capable device the options given are PTP (photos), MIDI (musical instrument control), Tethering (internet), and File transfer {media transfer protocol). Also Settings > Display > has no options for sharing output to an external display.
An app can do the video translation to HSDMI via USB, and the one suggested by @greengenie above looks like a good bet. Again I have never had this use case …
I dont think this feature would be on an under $400 phone as its a big feature and more on more expensive high end phones as it needs higher quality port specs to do it I think.
I do have it on my S26 Ultra though
as that also has DEX for some simple computing stuff. I dont think its on Pixels though even the high end ones for some reason, but I could be wrong.
Casting is your only option I think.
