How can I install the "Proclaim" app. onto Linux?

Hi guys, is there any way to install the “Proclaim” app onto Linux?

It worked fine on windows.

(Proclaim is an app that the church service / program is built on weekly)

It should run through Wine(windows emulator) , install Wine and load the Windows application.

Thanks George,

It looks like a complex operation, but I’ll give it a go.

Robert

It’s not. Install WineHQ through your package manager or download from here, Download · Wiki · wine / wine · GitLab

Download Proclaim for Windows and run WineHQ to load it, logically it will just run.

Hi George,

I’ve done the process you suggested all the way to “wine downloading proclaim” and as it was doing that it ran into a problem and “failed to download”.

How do I update windows when I haven’t got windows?

Check the version you are using, currently the stable version is 11, your repository maybe offers an older one so uninstall it and install the latest from the website.

The message comes from the application which thinks it runs on Windows.

I tried version 11.1 and Windows 11 emulation running the winecfg command but I get the same error.

There is quite more configuration that can be done if you search the documentation. The alternative solution is to run Windows 10/11 in a Virtual Machine (QEMU or Virtual Box).

I was able to install version 3.6 from here, but it doesn’t work on launch, it shows a vertical black rectangle, Recent Proclaim Release Notes | ProclaimReleaseNotes , the application will appear together with the rest applications or search for “proclaim” in your files to locate the launcher.

Hi George,

I ended up installing the virtual machine and running windows 10

Windows 11 is much harder to install, I failed in that.

I’m running “Proclaim” on the VM through Win10 :+1:

Many thanks,

Robert

Windows 11 is more complicated but you don’t really need except for some time in the future that some application demands it. Keep the configuration you have since you are satisfied.
