How to Lock Ring Tone & SMS / Message Notification Levels

I previously asked this on the iodé forum a month ago but as yet no responses - I am very keen to hear if there is any way to do this. And if not what is considered the best way to do so with a third party app (e.g. like “Volume Lock” or “Persist” )?

I was hoping to do it within the OS, without resorting to third party apps? Seems like a pretty basic core function that seems to not be present in even stock Android, but is there a setting somewhere I am missing?

The reason is I am constantly turning the volume for notifications and ringing down to zero (muted) inadvertently, when I am holding/carrying the phone; and MISSING important calls or SMS txts… I used this function always on my iPhone for a long long time…

The original iodé thread is here (if anyone is interested) - but no responses as at time of posting this thread:

I did a quick research and couldn’t find an app that does the job.
I could only found sound assistant app from Samsung that is used to manage that.

Sounds like a cool feature though. Considering that the custom ROM projects are focusing on privacy-enhancing features, seems like this feature will need to get first on AOSP before it trickles down…

Thanks @plamen - this is another case where Android generally is nearly a decade (or more?) behind iOS…

As mentioned I found the 2 apps people had mentioned but haven’t researched them fully yet - they supposedly have functionality to do it (possibly in a round about way)…: “Volume Lock” and “Persist”.
