Note that the easiest way to upgrade to that beta is OTA with “manual install” using the Updater app. If you want to get automatically be notified and download betas within the Updater app, the iodé way is to install the beta updater version of the Updater app.
Sorry not certain of what version that is, but you can follow the link I gave above to download and install to confirm. There was an update to it about 2 months back.
I tried your recommendation, but it also fails in exactly the same way as before:
the update seems to proceed correctly at first, but during the final reboot, the device reboots three times at startup.
After logging in, the version of IodéOs has not changed.
I don’t know.
In the beta trials @plamen would provide us with a download but since we all were instructed to install the OTA updater, we do not get them.
Hopefully one of the devs or @plamen will be able to provide a source for us or find a fix for this particular problem.
I’m looking for an official answer. I do have a link to the beta10 full image, but am waiting before passing the link to confirm it is the best to publicly share.
Note I have had more success using SP Flash than using fastboot, and @ericHz there is a linux build for it direct from MediaTek, that is what I use: https://spflashtools.com/category/linux
@plamen when you get a chance can you add the Linux build link for SP Flash to the guide?
If this is a beta version, as its name suggests, I propose sharing it in the BraX3 Beta Program chat. I have access to it, and I believe @Beircheart does as well.
Thank you @rik for the Mediatek SP Flash link, I see some interesting features like Memory Test, I will try this tool.
Whenever you lock or unlock the device, your userdata partition will be wiped out (this is a security “feature”)
I have just learned that if the bootloader is unlocked then OTA updates or adb sideload will fail to apply the update due to a “bug” in the Mediatek firmware that has not (yet) been addressed by them. Essentially, slot b for a/b handoffs in updates is broken. So, If you are in this state, with updates not applying via OTA, then you need to do this:
Use SP Flash Tool as guided above but use the “Firmware Upgrade” option, it is the only way to fully reset in this broken state. WARNING: As we understand, this Firmware Upgrade option will completely wipe the phone, so you will lose all personal data.
