How Unbrickable is the Brax3?

Hopefully will soon receive my Brax3’s so I can get firsthand knowledge of this.

How “brickable” and “unbrickable” is the Brax3? I am expecting to go as deep into the guts as possible and recompile the OS for it, and I’m wondering how easy is it to brick it, and how easy is it to unbrick it? I have worked for years on things like recompiling Graphene, DD-WRT, OpenWRT, Vocore2, and the PinePhone, and so i have some experience, both good and bad, with each of those and the different hardware involved. Sometimes it pretty easy to unbrick the hardware when it goes awry, other times, you are just screwed. I have a pixel 7 sitting here that I seriously bricked by manually pushing the wrong baseband firmware into it. I would prefer not to do that to the brax3’s I’m getting.

I don’t have answers but I’m looking forward to hearing how things go for you! This is a hacking project for me too.

I hear you. Been there done that too many times. You are braver than me. I hope Brax3 is “unbrickable”, so can learn more about it when they arrive.

How has your journey been so far? I have only really set up a few apps from fdroid and aurora and a couple of apks. I haven’t got a sim yet, I’m still looking into the noKYC approach.

I have not yet used the brax for my own phone. I am hoping to get build instructions for it asap so I can bring some of my own OS modifications into it before I start doing actual work with it.
