We have numerous Brax3 devices. Most are taking a long time to download; even on wifi over a gigabit connection. So, it isnt just you.
Important question:
- I am still on iode 6.3 from May 2025 - first OS as shipped to me.
When I load an update - will it wipe away all my apps and contacts and settings?
some of the release notes said “Magic Earth” was removed. How many apps will be removed? How do I keep track of what apps I had before loading an update? - If I load an update that later turns out to cause more troubles, is there a way to go back to what I had before? Especially if some update prevents me using wifi, that sounds a bit hard to recover.

No - not normally, unless you have something really really unusual or it’s a very unusual update - all normal apps and settings will normally be fine (unless the update specifically relates to something specific in the latter).
-
No - not easily. You can’t roll back to the previous version. But you can do Seedvault backups of your config and apps and restore them, but note this is not 100% reliable and can be very hit or miss…
Thank you for this information.
Is Seedvault part of iodeOS?
Where would you recommend I learn about how to do Seedvault backups?
Go to settings and search for “back up” and the app will be listed. It is a default install on the Brax3, but there is no icon to access the service for whatever reason.
This is a brief overview of how to use the app, but there are more comprehensive sites if you do a web search on “how to use seedvault android”.
Sorry to butt-in @Mycenius!
All good @Igor_Shotsky , nicely done! ![]()
