Many notifications not working still

I continue to have no notifications or sounds when receiving mail in proton mail. However the Signal app will produce sounds and notifications when a message is received.

Yes notifications over all and specifically in proton are turned on.

In microG settings under cloud messaging, no apps are shown to use it (cloud messaging) and everything is greyed out so It cannot even be turned on.

Anyone solved this?

Sorry this is a repost as I’ve had no replies elsewhere

Not sure microG could be the issue try utilizing different settings approach or maybe try the app internal settings to see if is optimizing battery saving by disabling push notifications or possibly your iode firewall could be blocking it if the settings aren’t customized or they are strictly enforced. Again very hard to know without examining settings or having device in hand, these are some things I would check.

Unfortunately Protonmail have been known for having notification issues when not running on a google-powered device. I’ve seen many threads in their forum and the topic has been disregarded. A bit of a shame really for a privacy-focused product.

Tutanota have done a way better job at this, by delivering notifications through their own push notification service.
