Maps & Directions

Hello Brax Community;
I downloaded CoMaps on my new Brax3. I also downloaded all 13.3 GB of USA maps. CoMaps can see where I’m at however, when I put in the destination address, it showed a map or the destination area. I could not find a way to use it for navigation similar to Waze. If I was interested in getting directions to destinations as I’m driving, what apps/solutions would work for that on Brax3?

i use comaps for drivng directions. Search for your destination using the magnifying glass. Once you’ve selected a destination, choose “route to” and you’ll get the option for driving /walking / public transport /bike. Choose one then click on start, and you’ll be in the navegation.

Is there a way to delete a map in comaps? I don’t need world coasts. Thanks.

Thanks Brinerustle! For those new to Brax, you’ll need to download & install RHVoice (recommended by CoMaps) or other Text-to-Speech program from the F-Droid, then go to phone settings > Language > Text to Speech Output > and select RHVoice or your preferred text-to-speech program as the default. You’ll need to open RHVoice app and configure it for the desired language/speech (you’ll need to download some voices from the cloud). After you do that, go back in CoMaps > search for an address/company > Route-To, and you should be in business. I’ll need to test it when I venture out.

you can delete maps in comaps from configuration menu > download maps > long click on a map and the delete option comes up. You can’t delete either the world map or world coasts, but they are so small (50MB) to be insignificant.

Oops, Somehow I have 2 Comaps apps. One is the default and the other is from F-Droid. The F-Droid is a newer update. I assume there was an update but it made a second app. Also, the default Comaps does NOT show in any of the stores as an app I have, only the F-Droid app. So, do I just delete the default and continue to use the F-Droid version? Confused. Thanks for any help.

you can delete either, their shouldn’t be a problem either way. To delete iodé system apps, go to settings > apps > preinstalled apps, and you can delete. Deleting systems apps requires a reboot.

It always boggles my brain when an app doesn’t update, but yet, there’s a newer version on a different app store. Oh well. Thanks for the info
