Mostly unable to make or receive calls

Hi all,

For context I’m based in the UK. I’ve posted previously in the Brax3 Europe Mobile Network compatibility thread but I’m beginning to wonder if it isn’t a mobile network problem but a problem with my Brax3 phone or the Brax3 itself.

On mobile networks I’ve tried that enable Wi-Fi calling for the Brax3, Wi-Fi calling results in calls being randomly cut off or not being able to be placed in the first instance “Server is not reachable” etc. 3G calling has been phased out in the UK and 2G calling indoors is virtually impossible on my Brax3 even on providers that still support 2G. VoLTE works fine in areas of great signal but randomly drops out or has issues in areas of poor signal quality. Signal quality is nonexistent indoors.

Has anyone else experienced these issues and if so, if you’ve solved them how have you solved them?

I’m at my wits end, I basically can’t make or receive phone calls on my Brax3 indoors and even outdoors it’s sketchy.

The issues have persisted from initially using IodeOS 6.9 through curtently using IodeOS 7.2. Data works fine outdoors, indoors it depends on signal, SMS is mostly fine, but making or receiving calls basicslly doesnt work most of the time. I’ve tried GiffGaff (uses O2 UK Network) Smarty UK, Spusu UK (uses EE Network), and Three UK (Alternates between using Vodafone coverage and Three UK coverage since they share networks). I’ve tried e-SIMs and physical SIMs and there was no meaningful change with either.

The WiFi calling with its “server unreachable” message is indeed troublesome even for regular phones.

Have you asked your carrier for any ideal settings or whether they have some app that assists WiFi calling?

What might implies a hardware issue is that you don’t have 2G connectivity since it uses lower frequencies which should be able to travel easier.

Do you have any other phone that can work with 2G?

I’ve literally never experienced this with any phone I’ve owned before getting my Brax3.

I set up the provider’s recommended APN in each case when I tried a network. None of the providers have apps that assist with WiFi calling. Three UK used to but deprecated it years ago.

Not at the moment but as I stated 2G is on the way out, Three UK doesn’t support it and most providers of it in the UK are looking to end support for 2G by 2030 to 2033.

That’s somewhat of a moot point though as any type of calling indoors on the Brax3 is problematic, the audio gets garbled or cuts out, or the call disconnects.

I’ve seen complaints about Samsung WiFi calling giving server errors. I have no idea for the moment.

I’m in the UK and use talk mobile (Vodafone) and have not had any issues you describe. I get the odd dropped call but nothing more than I previously experienced with a none Brax3 phone.

HTH.

I tried with both. Even physical sims are giving me problems.

It works for other people so maybe it’s a faulty device.

@plamen Any suggestions on how to resolve these issues?

Perhaps. Though Brax email support claim that after sales support is handled by the forum.
