My Iode Browser has stopped working

You can keep it only for historical reasons because those files disappear on the next update.

Also I think someone had downgraded successfully because of some problems after an update but I’m not sure about that.

I guess I can hold onto it until the next update or two. Thanks for your assistance.

So we should no longer have to go through this procedure going forward, correct? The next update should go without any hitches directly from the updater app?

Repeat this process if the updater refuses to download or can’t see the update.

Hi George, hopefully you are the ‘go-to’ guy to get me started. I purchased a Brax3 for my brother last year and he eventually returned it today as he could not get the 7.1 upgrade to work. I have since tried (and i’m only on the sentence in front of him’ )when it comes to tech !! Having read through many of the answers and FAQ’s i cannot install 7.1 due to “the download failed, Please check your internet connection “ etc. I have a stable connection and the phone seems to perform all of the other requisites but i’m stuck !! I have performed a factory reset and downloaded the required updater file but just cannot get any further. Any other clues ? I’m trying very hard to be a grown up, but it’s getting harder to like the phone  . Cheers. John

@JPC1946 Download the following file and in the updater hit the 3 dots upper right, Local update and load the file you downloaded, brax3/iode-7.2-20260131-brax3-ota.zip · master · ota / release · GitLab

7.3 is coming soon

Morning George (I’m in the UK, just in case you are asleep elsewhere !). I have tried your instructions and i just get the github page with lots of info about the updater/installer, but i cannot find the file itself. I have managed to locate files before successfully but not today. Anyway your help is gratefully accepted and i think that i’ll wait for 7.3 and join the anticipated clamour of folks trying to navigate that install… it keeps life interesting at my age  . Thanks. John

@JPC1946 this is the direct download link, https://gitlab.iode.tech/ota/release/-/raw/master/brax3/iode-7.2-20260131-brax3-ota.zip

do the update now to learn the process, you’ll have to do the same for 7.3 if you don’t update to 7.2

after update remove the transitional updater, hold on the updater icon > App info > 3 dots upper right > Uninstall update

in the original link you should get a directory with various update images for Brax3, in our case we need the *brax3-ota.zip with the latest date, the respective .minisig and .sha256 files contain signatures and checksums to check the integrity of the files after download

Hi again George. This process is getting tiring for a wrinkly like me, but gamely i am trying to soldier on !! So far i have assiduously copied your link into the iode phone browser, and then been met with a ‘sign in to gitlab’ ?? So i set up an account (I thought), but it does not like me. so i cannot download the file. I can, however download the zip file, via your link, to my pc although i understand the difficulty of transferring same to my phone. I know that i can be thick at times, just ask my wife, but this journey should not be this difficult ?!. Thanks for all of your help and encouragement, but i think that the very nice box that the phone came in, beckons. !! Cheers. John

You can’t make a gitlab account, it’s only for the developers.

When I click on the link on Brax3 it opens a new tab and pops up a dialog asking to click “download” to get the 1.38GB file

Click on the link, don’t copy, if the problem is the browser download another browser to do it like Brave, maybe the browser doesn’t work correctly because you are on an older version or something.

You can connect the phone to the PC and search in the phone Settings for USB and select “File transfer”, then open the phone icon on the PC and drop the file in the Download folder.

Thanks for being by my side George !! The circle closes. Today i have performed a factory reset, Found out that my fat fingers are unsuited to small keyboards  , finally got all the right words in the right places, installed the temp updater, eventually downloaded the 7.2 file, twice !! but when i attempt to open or run it, i get the usual ‘internet’ message which does not progress the install. I can’t find the file options. The phone shows that it’s running Android 15 & iodeOS 6.3.Thanks in advance. John

Leave the file as it is in the Download folder, open the updater and hit the 3 dots upper right, choose Local update and this will open automatically the Download folder so you’ll choose the zip file, then it will take some time to import it and then you’ll proceed with the update and the reboot.

YAY !!! You’ve made an old man very happy George. Finally installed 7.2. Now i have to return it to my brother…but only after i have fully road-tested it   . Thanks for your diligence and understanding. John

Remove the temporary updater, you may also need to reconfigure the APN if you can’t make calls or can’t get mobile internet.

With the SIM inserted go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs >APN

If the settings are correct according to your carrier but you can’t have internet then delete the APN and add it again with the same settings.
