No phone function/IMS connection to T Mobil

My phone will not connect to T Mobile phone function. Text works, internet works but no phone calls in the lower 48. My cell provider in AK says that the phone is not connecting to IMS with T Mobil and can’t come up with a fix. Kind of bad if you can’t call/receive calls. Any ideas? I’m computer/technology illiterate so if you have any ideas please use plain language  Thanks.

It seems that the hardware doesn’t support CBRS LTE Band 48 or 5G NR n48, look here at the connectivity specifications, Product

There is a setting somewhere to limit the connectivity lower than 4G so you can use 3G if it’s available.

Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs

Maybe the only solution is to use some carrier that doesn’t use those bands in your region or better nationwide

My understanding was that the Brax3 phone works with T Mobile. Am I wrong? I thought it didn’t work with Verizon or one of the other big carriers.:man_shrugging:

Through experimentation seems that the Verizon problem is mostly an IMEI issue, you flash a Pixel or iPhone IMEI and it works.

As I can understand in the USA the carriers lease 3rd party infrastructure and though the IMEI is accepted you run into limitations of the actual cellular network.

Talk to the support about that, maybe only Mediatek can add those bands with some firmware update.

If you search on the internet “T-Mobile CBRS” you’ll find that T-mobile has withdrawn the support of this band which is used in shared infrastructure though it lets the network use it but it’s not recommended, maybe you can contact T-Mobile about the specific problem and ask them to open another routing scheme in some other band.

The techs at my cell provider can see IMS with the Brax3 but they can’t figure out how to connect the two.

Are there any Brax tech people here?

Do you have an IMS setting in your mobile network settings ?

Is there an IMS APN in your APN settings?

Mine(EU) has only some fields set

Name: IMS
APN: ims
APN type: ims
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Network type: all selected

I don’t see IMS anywhere. Like I stated before the techs at my provider can see IMS but it won’t connect with the Brax3.:man_shrugging:

I reckon you have to add the IMS Access Point Name.

Hit the “+” and add one , my settings maybe work else call them to ask for your carrier’s appropriate IMS APN settings.

Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > T-Mobile > Access Point Names > +

Some users have reported that after the update to 7.0 they lose the data connection and they have to delete all the APNs and add them again manually or maybe restart the phone for them to get updated automatically and it works again.

This what I see

Settlings-network & internet-sims- + add sim- then it says to download eSIM or a SIM card.

I don’t see a option for adding a IMS

Under SIMs there should be your mobile connection profile with the name of the carrier and inside that there should be at least the mobile internet APN, it seems like you have no SIM installed

Are you using an eSIM or a physical SIM card?

If you have a physical SIM move it to the other slot of the tray. If the problem persists it could be a faulty SIM or a faulty modem so start from checking the integrity of your SIM by visiting some store.

If this is the only phone you are operating you could try installing an eSIM following your carrier’s instructions

I have a physical sim
