Hello all, I hope all is well. I have been reading a lot of the post and everything looks so technical. I just wanted some privacy as all of our rights are slowly being taking away. That being said am waiting on my Brax 3 phone. However now am afraid when it arrives, I will not know what to do with it. I’m not sure if I will be able to use apps like online banking, cash app etc

I was of the same mindset when I got mine, but once I started using it, I retired my Degoogled CalyxOS Pixel 7 in a day. The feature that won me over was the fingerprint scan on the right side (thumb-button). It’s much better than Pixel’s fingerprint on the front of the screen.
After that I downloaded my banking apps and they worked fine. In fact there were some apps that didn’t work on my Pixel that did work on my Brax-3.
Of everything, there was only one app I couldn’t get working–ecobee
So I’ll use the web for that one.
Before I migrated to the Brax3, I was looking forward to beta-testing their Linux phone, but now I guess I’ll have to get another Brax3 for that.
Like everyone, I hate Google even before them stealing Android from the open community.
I think Brax is our main hope for Linux tech phones. I will go back to a dumb phone before I use the Google App Store again.

Thank you so very much DavesNotHere. This put me at easy. because they are droping Ai into our phones like water. My daughter purchase a Samsung for me and it came with Ai. Don’t get me wrong i like Ai but I want to use it when and where. I don’t like AI on my phone, unless I install

My Brax3 runs UK, AU and UAE banking apps plus Wise, Revolut and others. So perhaps not everything but seems to cover most things. I run another normal google phone with certain apps which require facial recognition etc and that phone stays at home only to be used for that purpose.

I have no issues with fin apps. I do find the Aurora store will tell me an app is unsupported by my phone if I haven’t restarted the phone recently. I just got in the habit of doing a restart before loading the Aurora store.

Yeah, same here. No issues with banking apps from the Aurora Store. I’m in USA.

No you cannot online bank with Brax3
Which bank apps that don’t work?
What I mean is that you cant have things like apple or googlepay on your phone or any privacy phone. You CANNOT pay for paid apps. You only have access to free apps. But Im sure you can download your local banking apps those are different. Im sorry for my misunderstanding of your question
In settings, notifications you will now find AI is right with you in your phone, some say it isn’t really AI and you can turn it off but do you really think you can turn that off?
AI has not been mentioned anywhere but I came across it so immediately bought a Pixel 9 Pro XL and flashed CalyxOS but just like iodéOS it too has AI because both run LineageOS and put CalyxOS or iodéOS layer on top, so I flashed GrapheneOS that does not have AI at the moment…
I’ll keep updating my Brax3 when each update is available and am expecting AI eventually to gain more and more control.

Yup, Settings > Notifications > and all those options that use on device AI seem to come as default OFF. So people who want AI (no accounting for taste) can choose to have it.
And my bank doesn’t understand when I tell them I Choose Not to use their app on my phone.

My banks app works on the Brax 3, however Cash App does not. It will download but when I go to sign in it tells me my phone is unsupported. No worries though I only use that app when one of my kids needs a little help.
