Openvpn suddenly no longer connects

Been having some trouble with openvpn not connecting no matter which profile I try…

Nothing has changed from my original settings.

Happened before. But I don’t want to clear all of my profiles again…

Anyone know why this is happening?

Hi George,

Not sure your response relates to my problem. Perhaps you replied here by mistake.

I uninstalled then downloaded the openvpn app again and reinstalled the profiles.

Openvpn is connecting again. I wish I knew why it gets corrupted.

I gave you the instructions on how to get a LogCat, you’ll do the same but in your case you’ll try to connect to the VPN with your different profiles so that we can see the errors while it tries to connect.

I see… but its not a tech error where it gets kicked from the attempt to contact the server…

It doesn’t see the internet so it never attempts to contact a server.

The LogCat records everything happening in the system and everything that the applications themselves log as necessary feedback for the developer, you’ll see clearly why it can’t connect.

Why do you use a VPN app? You can go to Settings > Network & internet > VPN and add there your connection.

Thanks… I’ll keep using my VPN.

Make sure that there is no conflict between the app and the Android’s native VPN system.

Not sure what is necessarily causing the issue. Maybe some renegotiation has failed. Have you tried clearing app cache and storage before you uninstalled? Usually this should also fix the issue and is easier/faster than an app reinstall.

Actually, I did that the first time…

I think an uninstall and reinstall might be the better fix as it might resolve conflicts with the new OS upgrades.

Time will tell. Its working fine for the moment.

Check Android’s VPN to see whether your app copies the profiles there.
