The main reason I got the Brax3 was to hack it, for a variety of reasons. Can the development team post some instructions here on how to recompile the OS.
I am very willing to contribute to this topic, I’m not expecting the devel team to bear the burden of this. I have rebuilt other android variants from scratch and have some concept of how things are supposed to go, so I just would like some pointers to get headed in the right direction.
So, at this point, there are 36 views on this topic, 1 like, but zero contact from the Brax3 team.
Just looking for something along the lines of “clone this specific repo, set up the environment with xyz, run these commands to build the OS” or something. Very rough instructions, I am not asking for highly detailed anything. I am wiling to bear the weight of developing these instructions into something other likeminded hackers in the group can use.
iodéOS source is in the process of being synced with brax team. I am not sure what their plans are for the long-term primary location. But anyway, after the source is posted, the build instructions for iodéOS are here.
You can root any time if you really want to using Magisk, but why? Not sure what it gives you except a headache to maintain.
Regarding the source being posted, I have seen discussion on it, but it isn’t ready yet as there is some cleanup and commenting / etc. to do, and also it needs a bit of organizing to ensure our build signing keys are not part of the source… users that build themselves can use the default AOSP build keys or create their own. Anyway, sorry no specific ETA yet but it is in process.
I have a link to the “full SP Flash compatible image” (all paritions including boot.img are included) in this thread. Note this is built a bit differently than the OTA updates, so the newest “full image” that was built was the 2025-08-03 image.
Just wondering if you guys @rik are progressing on your build info? I am very eager to start banging around inside the code.
I know how complex it is to release code to the public, I’m not stressing about this, but any forward movement on this or even just an update on how that is progressing is appreciated. If there is anything I can do to make it possible, please let me know.
I was just going to tag @plamen on this to see if he or the team have any input. I’m so thrilled to have the Brax3, but it’s just not the same if I can’t strip out the default software and put my own in. Not just have a choice of a bunch of other already-compiled stuff, but put a chance to compile up my stuff and put it in.
We’re trying to build iodeOS for a while now but are failing. We’re working with Vincent to resolve the issues our devs encounter. Once we’re able to build, we will publish the steps.
@plamen OK, so that’s something I really don’t understand. If you are having trouble building Iode, then how does it get on the phone to begin with? I have a brax3 here with iode from the factory, how did it get there?
@plamen Thanks very much for this update. I truly appreciate it. As I mentioned before, I am willing to help in any way I can, I’m not intending that brax or iode devels bear the total burden of this. Please let me know if I can help in some way.
Thanks!
No instructions on that yet. But most likely we will be able to post UB Touch building instructions first, as we’re now building a clean build successfully. Not sure if that will be interesting for you.
Thanks for the update, @plamen,I appreciate it. I am most interested in the Android builds, at the moment, but I’m glad to see other stuff being built as well. If there’s anything I can do to assist in rolling the ball forward on that, I am glad to do so.
Thanks!
