Phone reboot no longer triggers SIM pin entry

@plamen if you are updating this with @vincent (and/or @rik) another issue since 7.0 is reboots DO NOT trigger physical SIM PIN entry. Previously they did under 6.x and I consider the lack of these now a security risk (as I understand things).

You have to completely power off the phone now to trigger the PIN lock on physical SIM, and require entry of PIN on phone restart.

EDIT: I’m on 7.1 at time of posting this.

Thank you for the feedback. I created this issue to track resolution: Phone reboots no longer triggers physical SIM pin entry (#69) · Issues · ota / issue-tracker · GitLab

The reboot is so hard that some flags stay up and it thinks the reboot never happened, logically some file isn’t updated during the reboot process. But this means that the phone keeps the PIN somewhere. I can’t remember whether the SIM card has to acknowledge the PIN or that it is up to the device to let you access the SIM.

Thanks @plamen

@Mycenius , can you verify that you’re manually triggering the reboot?
And also, are you still experiencing this issue after updating to 7.2?

Hi @plamen, yes I am on 7.2 and it still happens for all reboots, whether I manually trigger the reboot or the phone reboots itself.

(Note the random rebooting issue is much diminished on 7.2, only had it once in the first 7 days of 7.2, which is considerably less than previous with 7.1; but lack of SIM PIN lock has been consistent on every reboot under 7.1 and 7.2.)

Hi there,

I am at 7.2 and have the same issue.

Phone does NOT ask for the sim pin after herstarten/reboot. Done by myself or the phone.

After turning the phone off it does ask for the sim pin..

Don’t know exactly when this appeared for the firsth time on my phone but just tested both the reboot and restart and it’s still there…
