Poor Quality Audio

When listening to podcasts on my BraX3, the audio has tinny sound along with some mild squawks and squeaks. The audio isn’t clear like my current phone (Moto G Power 21). Also, on speaker phone, I can hear the voice sound even less than without the speaker on. Does anyone have information of this? I did read a similar topic to this one but wanted to see if there would be a solution for the tinny sound. The speaker is one of the most important features for me on a phone.

Same. Seems like they used a shitty speaker on the phone. Suppose that’s what you get at this price point.

Have you tried using the included AudioFX app to set a custom EQ?

I’ll try that. Thanks!

I looked on Aurora. Where would I find AudioFx?

It is already on the phone. It is one of the pre-installed apps

Okay. I saw a couple of apps that may be it. Thanks for the info. :slightly_smiling_face:

Okay, I found it and worked with the bars. I could hear no difference. I can’t imagine listening to this for the life of the phone.

Right now, the only way around this issue is an alternative audio driver. FX is not a driver.

USB Audio Player Pro will correct the issue. But its paid in Google.

I’ve logged the issue with iode, but until enough people voice their displeasure, it won’t get resolved.

I would like a solution that doesnt require paid google apps. That defeats the purpose of avoiding google on a degoogled phone.
Plus, i only have aurora, so i cant buy it anyway.

You can buy via aurora. You just have to add a google account microG

The audio issues I logged months ago. Just not been any action. Maybe as people voice their concerns something will happen.

I dont know enough about microG to trust it and i really dont want a google account on these phones. Plus, we have several of these phones. So, $8 isn’t a hefty price to pay; but that number climbs quickly when it needs to be bought on all of our phones. Even if we had that many google accounts, which we dont; and I dont want the same google account on every one of these phones we got for friends and family. It’s just not a viable solution for us.

I’m glad you brought it up though because this proves it can be resolved wihtout a need for root access. So, it can be done for free by someone in the community with the skills to do so.

So, I won’t get into the whole privacy discussion, but I’ll say that for myself it provides the protection I feel I need. But if you go to Duck.ai, and ask the following, it will list some details on your concern. It is a good place to start to understand MicroG more.

“how does microg protect when a google account configured”

As for the Audio discussion, here is a topic I opened earlier in the beta. This was started based on the discussions that revolve around alternative stores, and purchasing options. It may provide you an alternative. USB Audio Player Pro was the app I was looking to buy, after talking to the app’s developer.

Thanks for the info. The BraX3 phone is a huge learning curve for me. I’ll get the USB Audio Player Pro and see if that’s better. I appreciate the people here offering help with this problem.
