6.9 finally showed up in my updater and I downloaded and installed to my phone. No change in my wifi connection. Still not able to connect 
Did you reset your wifi settings?
Settings → System → scroll down to “Reset Options” → Reset Mobile Network Settings" and click on that.
Go back to WIFI settings and try again.
May or may not work.

P.S. But I understood this will only resolve wi-fi calling, the update doesn’t affect the wi-fi connection issue…
Unfortunately it doesn’t do that either
