Problems connecting to modem wifi

I am having trouble connecting my new BraX3 to my wifi modem. I have had lengthy conversations with Telstra Australia support people and have not been able to resolve the issue. They have confirmed it is definitely not an issue with the modem as I am able to connect and disconnect other phones and laptop. Can anyone help?

I had to disable WPA2 encryption on my modem/router to get the WIFI to connect. My modem/router is so old it does not offer WPA3 either, so I have to just use base WPA for now. Not ideal but it works.

Also, are you running iode OS? Have you updated the OS? That might help, but it didn’t help me. It’s a well documented problem that Brax is working on with Lineage OS that they hope to push a fix onto the next update.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I would like to update the OS, but I cannot connect wifi to be able to do so! My mobile data does not have the capacity to download the file??

Its a known issue which will hopefully be resolved soon. There is a huge thread with regular updates. Its just certain routers, so if yoi have any spares knocking around give them a go.

Further to @Sparkie’s post there are several threads on this on the BraX3 Forum. As mentioned it’s a known bug with connecting to a small number of specific routers (and/or WPA2) and is being worked on now by LineageOS. Hopefully there will be an update to resolve it passed to iodéOS soon for the BraX3 (its a combined OS and hardware issue). However it may also just be a settings issue or similar for you.

In the meantime you may want to look through these and check if you have the same situation, or the same model router as others have reported, or similar, in which case it may or may not be fixable right now. But you can try some of the suggested actions to see if it resolves it too, that will be in some of these threads…

The official BraX3 one:

Also these - unfortunately many of them do duplicate some info, but hopefully you will find things to check or try and/or identify for sure if your router is one of the ones affected, that the phone and it won’t play nicely together…

I would contact Iode OS directly at: Contact - iodé

Explain what you are trying to do and the current version you have on the Brax 3. They can probably help you get it updated via a download to a computer, transfer it to your phone and do a local update.

Be aware if it’s the MediaTek issue causing the issue then iodéOS have essentially given up on it and it’s been passed up the chain to LineageOS - for them to resolve in conjunction with BraxTech, then pass the fix back down to iodéOS.

@George55 have you verified if your router is one of the models listed in the wi-fi connection issues list, or mentioned in that thread? If it’s definitely not then @Igor_Shotsky is quite right and you probably are best contacting iodéOS direct, but if it is already in the list of know devices you will need to try the various workarounds and/or wait for the potential fix to be found and filtered down from Lineage.

Thank you so much for your help. I will try that.

I backed up my phone on Seedvault (default application on IodeOS), downloaded and installed the Beta 6.9 image. No weirdness or loss of data I can see so far.

Partial success on fixing the WIFI connectivity issues:

Can now connect to 5G with WPA2-PSK with AES encryption.
Cannot connect to same router on 2.5G with identical settings.

Motorola MG7550 modem plus router (DOCISIS 3.0)

Have you got a direct link to 6.9 to download?

This is for the BETA version of 6.9.

You have to download the installer from here: beta · master · ota / ota · GitLab

You want the 6Vx for the Brax3; which is UpdaterBetaIode6Vx.apk

"Thanks to user “David” on Brax.me website for this information.)

Download to phone, backup phone with Seedvault to be safe (default backup app on IodeOS), launch the installer, let it install and reboot to apply the patch.

I am confused as to which and when I download to laptop as opposed to my phone. Could you please clarify?

Well, it appears the 6.9 update (not the Beta) has dropped and should be in the installer, so if you have a windows or mac computer, you can download it from here: Installation - iodé

The instructions I have lately been posting were to install the Beta 6.9 version, which should no longer be installed now that the full release has dropped. Install the full version now.

I am assuming you still do not have WIFI, so you will have to use one of the listed installers to run from a windows or mac computer and install to the phone via a USB connection.

In any event, if you have irreplaceable data already on the phone, I suggest you back up everything via Seedvalut (settings → search for “backup” and click on Seedvault) before updating the phone.

BTW: I installed the 6.9 final release over the 6.9 Beta (after backing up the phone) and didn’t have any issues I can see so far. Used the native IodeOS installer and the update is 1.4GB, as the past few have been. Don’t forget to go back and remove any updates before 6.8 to free up storage in your phone.

Installer → Updater → will bring you to a list of updates stored on your phone. It’s up to YOU to determine which ones to keep and which ones to discard to make more room. I always keep at least the last version and the one before in case I have to fall back.

One note: The three-dot menu on the upper right side will allow you to export the update to external media if you want more room on your phone, but don’t want to lose the capability to fall back to that version of the OS.

Hi Wondering where you found the 6.9 final release. It has not shown up in my updater

Well, for me, it just showed-up in the Updater app. Maybe it was pushed out to Beta Testers first? Have you tried hitting the refresh icon in the upper right of the Updater app to see if it appears?

Just re-opened my updater app and it shows ANOTHER 6.9 update. Hmmm…

The first one is Oct 28th and this one is dated Oct 31st. Unsure if I need to install the second update as well.

Unfortunately, documentation on a Open Source project is often sparse because the developers are investing more in actual development than up to the minute documentation.

Best I can offer…

Not showing for me either. I have downloaded but not installed 6.8 ( because most things worked on 6.7), but i dont think thats relevant.

Thanks for your reply. No new updates show in my updater. I clicked on the check for updates button and it said no new updates. I am not a beta tester. I turned off the phone and then back on and no change. Checked the iode news and the last post was OpenEUICC:fixed version (2025/10/6) Not sure why the new update is not in my updater. I was hoping the 6.9 update would fix my wifi connection issue.

Still no 6.9 update for me either.

Everyone, not sure this will work but try this:

Go to Updater app, click on 3 dot menu in upper right and choose “Show Changelog”.

At bottom, choose “News” and look at the posted updates. There are links in the announcements that MIGHT allow you to update from that source.

I DO NOT KNOW if you can skip release versions; I would install them in the order they were released, as I am sure newer updates depend on changes made in prior updates.

Make your own choices; I cannot be responsible for what happens!
