T-Mobile Says Device Carrier locked

I tried my new brax3 phone out with my existing tmobile SIM and I cant call out. Since I couldn’t call out I contacted tmobile and gave them the IMEI number and they said it was carrier locked. I told them that I just received a call on it and they said it is coming up as a gray phone. They asked for company information then said they could not help me and to contact the seller. So now I am creating this ticket to see if there is anything that can be done to resolve this issue. I have 2 of these phones so assume both will have the same issue. Very unhappy at this point and just want to get my money back.

I have been using mine on T-Mobile since the beta with no issues. Just took the sim out of my Samsung and put it in the beta phone. I also received two production units, one for me and one for my wife. Put our T-Mobile sims in and they are working fine. You may need a new Sim card.
Here are my settings on T-Mobile

What is happening when you try to call out?
Do you have a strong cell signal?
The phone is absolutely not carrier locked.
Are you actually a T-Mobile customer or do you have one of the resellers like patriot or mint?

This sounds oddly similar to

The topic includes feedback from another customer reporting the same.

We’ve escalated this matter to GSMS - the association that manages device identification (IMEI), which is what telcos use to determine status of a device (locked/unlocked, stolen, etc.).
We’re still waiting on feedback from GSMA.
